Rarest indian sword is SIROHI SWORD named after the village of SIROHI on GUJARAT, RAJASTAN BORDER. Now there are very rare experts left for manufacturing this kind of sword.Only a NIHANG faction based in Patiala manufacture this sword in very small numbers in their licensed factory.I read about it in a book I donot recall title or author as I just had glance at the book. Main quality of this sword is that it is most difficult rather impossible to break it and is perhaps the lightest sword and as deadly as KATANA.

Yes it is true but I have not seen such a sword but read in a book. do u have any information about this particular sword? Thanks for refreshing my memory I had forgotten the name of NIHANG GROUP. If u have any info about this sword please post it.

I am not't really sure but some one told that WILKINSON swords has been purchased by an Indian Company..........there is no change in the people running it .....but ownership rests with Mr. Sudhir......and thats an amazing takeover ........if true!

the best thing to make a sword locally would be to take a spring leaf shocker (if thats what its called) and have it done as per your design at a local blacksmith - Not sure if this is legal

I believe, leaf spring would be the correct term... shockers are the tubular things which are attached along with the springs (coil or leaf) to dampen spring movement and thus give a better ride...

Back to your post... AFAIK it would be perfectly legal as long as it is not sharpened... though the authorities seem to be quite flexible about swords... ones lying with you at home are usually ignored, only if you are carrying one with you can you possibly invite trouble... that too based on how they interpret your "intent". Maybe penpusher can further elaborate on the legal angle...

P.S. - I would seriously doubt you could easily find a "willing" 'smith though!! I recall asking a 'smith to fabricate a long "mizo" style knife (using leaf springs) for me eons ago... and he flatly refused... saying that the cops would give him a hard time! He did happily make an axe head and a chopper (dao) for use in the garden though...

In any Kannada movie psoter you will see the hero sporting what is locally called "long" made from the leaf spring of trucks. used as an "agricultural" tool for cutting "wood"...hence legal.
