It's 36/- per cartridge here. Was 63/- for old IOF ammo last month.BTW the last batch of IOF ammo had some chamber pressure issues. Was loaded to almost proof load levels.Avoid it.

FGK 0512- 229 5100-103
Machine Tool Prototype Factory-0251-2610884-87
try these numbers, they might provide a weapon in a month probably

hi
i purchased .22 ofb rev in feb this year for rs 52000/- though its originally priced at 35000/- but with the wait period of 2 1/2 years. on top of it you atleast spend atleast 10000/- if you look for a decent conveyance and accomodation. so according to me it was a bargain. i have fired almost twenty shots and have no complaint about its quality as you are getting a new weapon at this cost.and now im planning to sell if ill get a decent offer because my brother in law is planning to sell his webley .32 rev.
take care.

Old Second-hand Guns vs. New IOF Guns

Post by Lawman » Thu Sep 27, 2007 11:51 pm

Hi,

Here in India, we are deprived to get quality firearms due to our Govt. policy (Import ban). So, the old second-hand guns are traded here with unrealistic price-tags. 90 year old pistol is sold here for 1.5L. Some popular brand fetches 2.5L to 4.5L :x . May be those are of superior quality and have world renowned brand-names. IOF is selling the pistols and revolvers with a price-tag of Rs. 60K approx. The quality of IOF weapons are no-match with the foreign one.

But is it practical to buy a old second-hand pistol/revolver for 2L+ or go for a new IOF pistol/revolver for Rs. 60K. :?
Discussion needed.

It's like comparing a bicycle with a Maruti 800.The IOF firearms are overpriced even at 60,000/-.But that is the cheapest you can go in India.

Well u really have brought a damn cool topic to discuss.
If a weapon is old it does not mean that it is not in good condition but yes to pay a price of 4to 7 lacks really sounds foolish to me. Because we all usually travel alone with our hand guns and if any accident takes place it would result in a direct loss of so much of money. And above all I dont think that there is any need to make ur weapon a status symbol (which even my Dad did).
IOF Handguns are brand new and the weapons are effective too.
In my family there are three IOF hand guns and I feel that the quality has been improving day by day.
Ok i am signing off. for now- got to go
discuss later

Lawman,

Unless it is a hand me down, given the current prices for imported limited editions it just doesnt make sense to buy one unless one really has a lot of money to splurge, where it doesnt dent the pocket.

Over the years the IOF has improved the quality of the hand guns, they can with time only get
better,in fact the 9mm pistol is exported to the US market for civilian use sells bet $250 & 300/- IIRC,and the
reviews arent that bad.

If I were to go in for a hand gun today it would be one of the IOF offerings, they are good
value for money irrespective what others might have to say,at the end of the day it is for self defense
and these will get the job done as effectively as the limited editions.

If they are well maintained they will turn out reliable, practical and last a lifetime, and you will not regret
the money spent.

Hi Lawman,

Thanks for bringing up such an interesting topic...

Well it all together depends on the objective from which you are taking the arms..I think it really make sense for people like Mr. Rathore and Mr. J. Rana to have such branded and best of quality guns... coz their purpose of using those is different from self defense... they are using to have more proficiency and accuracy for their game or living.... so they cant take any chance on quality of arms and ammo.

But people like me use arms only for self defense... and if you maintain and handle your arms well, than their is no point of unreliability..for IOF guns.

If i have to say that if i have to reach office in delhi traffic ... it hardly makes a difference weather you go by Maruti or Farari.. coz both of them will not give you the luxury of driving in 5th gear and will reach at the same time, thanks to traffic  .... yes if i want to use the car for F-1 race than it make lot of difference...

Finally a new gun is always new... you really don't know how anybody has handled his guns in last 20 years...

At least my experience with IOF guns (rev/ pis) was good....

Bhaskar

Congratulation for your new pistol, lucky enough to get a good piece.I think the best part about IOF pistol is that all the parts are avaliable with many dealers, lots of modifications are already done by dealers, additional magzine 12 rounds is avaliable in market.very hard to get parts/magzine for imported pistols. One of my friend had done a good makeover and his IOF pistol looks like llama, he had installed ventelated ribs like llama and excellent wooden grip.I will try to post the pictures. Cheers James..

Sanjay is absolutely right.
But he forgot to mention one thing that these high profile shooters never purchase second hand guns they always go for brand new ones, as they can import them. Next it is also useless to purchase weapons which u cannot fire freely because of very expensive cartridges(.30,.25,etc)

(INFORMATION:- J RANA won his first national medal in Munger, Bihar )
I am also a member of Munger Rifle Association.

Another very imp point is that u can never trust a second hand pistol because of (high speed moving parts) Because in case of an unusual situation the malfunction could send u for a super six

Ideally, we should request IOF to import a basic handgun from a reputed manufacturer and brand it Tiger.. or cheetah or something like that.... same with ammo..
