Maintenance and Oiling of Metal Pistols

Post by byronvoyle » Fri Dec 06, 2024 7:50 am

Hello, I carry a gun with me all the time but rarely use it and I would like to ask about the maintenance of a pistol. What kind of oil do you use and do you need to oil the external parts regularly? How often should the internal parts of the gun be cleaned and oiled?

Thanks for your comments.

I use Ballistol for cleaning the barrel, and then a swipe over the metal frame etc. with the same. I hardly have the ammo limit to shoot it and clean vigorously. So mostly it's a rust prevention exercise of lightly oiling metallic surfaces. Mind you, mine is powder-coated or whatever black paint IOFB uses to create the black finish. At times, I also use WD 40, when I run out of Ballistol.
To ride, to speak up, to shoot straight.
