Help/suggestions from esteemed members regarding replacement of my .32 revolver with .30 bore pistol
Good evening everyone
I am currently having .32 mk3 IOF on my licence, I am interested in changing it with made in India,30 pistol .
Please suggest which option I shall choose from MSD 30 , nanda arms cheetah(17+1 magazine capacity) or star 30 (cam star defence).
Are there other options available?
I am very confused ,esteemed members please guide and help.

Re: Help/suggestions from esteemed members regarding replacement of my .32 revolver with .30 bore pistol
There are some observations I can make and some that I cannot, because I have not handled and examined these guns. Therefore, you have to take what is said and determine whether they are helpful for you when you make your decision, but I suppose that is true with everything that anyone can tell you. So, here's how I look at your question:
1. I am assuming that you wish to carry a pistol for self defense purposes. Therefore, I would rule out the MSD Falcon 30. I own a "Star" pistol, and they are not suitable for self defense because they cannot be safely carried with a round in the chamber. This is unfortunate, as MSD products seem to be well made. But the pistol cannot safely be carried in a self defense mode. Therefore, I would rule the MSD Falcon 30 out.
2. The Camstar M30 1911 looks like it is based on the Colt Government 1911 design. The key feature of this design that makes it safe is the safety, which blocks a cocked hammer positively by placing a piece of steel in the path of the hammer's travel when the safety is set. This means that the pistol is carried "cocked and locked" with a round in the chamber, the hammer cocked, and the safety applied. Carrying cocked and locked means that you must train yourself to disable the safety before shooting. This can be a very natural motion that adds no time to bring the pistol into action if you practice doing it. This is a crucial point, because you can't be fumbling about if a dangerous situation arises, and you cannot risk disabling the safety before being ready to shoot, as you might shoot yourself or someone else under stress. The system is good, in other words, if you know how to use it. I would have to be sure that the safety actually works like a 1911 safety! I wouldn't take any dealer's word for it. Many pistols have a safety thata looks like it is safe, but it is not. Since I would be committing my life to the safety, I would have to know for sure that this is the case. Also, I cannot vouch for the workmanship of this pistol or whether it feeds correctly using the ammunition you would buy for it. You would need to be sure of this yourself.
3. The Nanda Cheetah 30 looks like it is based on another design. It looks like it might be capable of double action firing, in which case the hammer doesn't have to be cocked to fire a round in the chamber. I would have to know whether the pistol was "drop safe" -- that it would not go off with a round in the chamber and the hammer not cocked if dropped. You must realixze that, like the single action Camstar safety, there would be practice needed with the Nanda Cheetah because the first shot double action trigger pull is going to be significantly different from the single action trigger pull of subsequent shots. You would need to practice to become proficient at this sort of double action/single action shooting. The large magazine capacity means that the magazine stacks ammunition in two columns. Feed from two column magazines can be less reliable than feed from a single column magazine, but this may or may not be true with this pistol. You would want to know whether feeding was reliable with the ammunition you want to use. Also, I cannot vouch for the workmanship of this pistol or whether it feeds correctly using the ammunition you would buy for it. You would need to be sure of this yourself.
You want to use hollow point ammunition, which member Vineet says is available in India. This is not just a matter of hollow point bullets being potentially more effective than military full metal jacket bullets. 7.62x25 ammunition has the property of a lot of penetration, and if you fire it you don't want your bullets to be going through half of the houses in the neighborhood, or through three or four bystanders. Don't fall under the idea that hollow points are "killer bullets." Yes, if they are properly designed and tested, they can be more effective, but they also limit penetration and are less likely to harm bystanders, which is very important.
You must make sure that the ammunition you use feeds through the pistol you get. You cannot afford a jam at a critical moment.
So, I can say these things but there are issues you have to check for yourself, too. Remember that on the internet, anyone can say anything, but you are the one carrying the pistol and you are the one depending on it to keep you safe, not the talkers. You need to know for yourself.
This is the help that I can offer.

Re: Help/suggestions from esteemed members regarding replacement of my .32 revolver with .30 bore pistol
Fellow IFGian,
.32 bore cartridges are available easily. If you want to change to a pistol ,go for .32 ACP for which cartridges are also available.
But opting for .30 pistol does not seem a good idea presently.
The new pistols are just evolving. So imho please reconsider your idea for a year or two so that the upside and downs of these pistols will come out and be rectified by the producers.
Always opt for a popular bore. .32 is apt for the Indian context.

Re: Help/suggestions from esteemed members regarding replacement of my .32 revolver with .30 bore pistol
In India .30 is more popular than .45. The reason for this is that .30 is very popular in our neighbouring country Pakistan and from there these pistols some how landed in India and made way to license holders.
Otherwise 1911 is better considering that compact and sub compact 1911’s are also available in India

Re: Help/suggestions from esteemed members regarding replacement of my .32 revolver with .30 bore pistol
I dont understand why these Indian manufacturers still making this ugly, unsafe 30 pistol in 2024. Why dont they just chamber .30 tokarev cartridge in 1911 model. In Adam khel Darra Pakistan they started manufacturing 30 pistols not because its some sort of superior pistol than others. They started making it because .30 pistol was way easier to copy with less tools and they had access to AK47 scrap barrels in 30 caliber. Ammunition was widely available. This how it began and became so popular in Pakistan. Then it reached Indian side of punjab and this 30 madness started. Still 30 pistols are manufactured in darra but they are dirt cheap but indian manufacturers are ripping people of their money.
