Best upcoming models for .32 bore pistol

Post by Ek_niranjani » Fri Oct 04, 2024 4:59 pm

Hello readers, I am new here and I have applied for hand gun licence and i am about to get my licence.
Now my concern is what to buy, .32 bore or .30 bore.
Motive is self defence. Which bore is more effective.
And in .32 bore which pistols is best Jd Taurus or Stallion or webley fox. Or anyone suggest other than this .
Please help.
Thank you 🙏

Hello Ek niranjani,

Welcome to our wonderful world , hope you find all that you are looking for...
As regards your choice of weapon and knowing that you are still to get a license ( and assuming you have never fired before), I would recommend a .32 pistol instead of a .30 ( it requires special skill and experience to handle this calibre specially).
Almost all weapons are very good but my preference for you would be the JD Taurus Pistol. It's a well made weapon and has managed a good reputation so far.
All the best and practice well, my friend

Have you shot a lot of 30 pistols?

Hi Timmy,

I have actually, with my brother in law whose an Army officer. But why do I need to justify something ,which I have suggested in all sincerity ?
I feel the .30 has a kick which maynot be comfortable for a rank first timer. He could get used to the .32 and then could upgrade depending on his choice.
When I started shooting a 41 years back , I started with a .22 and I loved it and gradually upgraded. At my age I feel I don't need to prove anything to anyone, my sincerity should be sufficient, of course if it is accepted.

Seasons good wishes to you, my friend

Though Timmy, I respect your experience in all this ,and I am not trying to compare . You are the MAN in this sphere and would be a much better counsel to anyone, including me :)

Chicky, don't get me wrong -- I'm only asking what experience or knowledge shapes the views you expressed. Surely, that is fair to ask?

My experience and knowledge on the matter of 30 caliber, or the 7.62x25 Tokarev cartridge, works like this: I shoot the cartridge in a Czech CZ52. I have a "Star"/Tokarev TT33 copy/Norinco, but it is chambered in 9mm. I know that 9mm roughly equals 7.62c25 in power, but it also matters what gun one shoots the cartridge in andf what load. My loads are RWS commercial and a 1200 round tin of Romanian surplus ammo, which I think was made in the 70s for submachine guns -- it is hot! When either round goes off at the range and others are around, they definately look! But, the CZ52 is very unlike shooting the Star, so there's a difference. Anyway, I don't know what ammunition you are shooting in India and how it is loaded.

The grip on the Star is small and angular, and the gun is not comfortable to shoot. I don't get a grip with my little finger, which makes a difference in controllability that someone with a different hand may not experience. The CZ52, on the other hand, has a large, hand-filling grip that's at an awkward angle.

I'm not the "man" and I'm sure some of our other members here have wider experience and more knowledge. I try my best to speak to what I know and to learn when I don't know.

My handgun experience started with shooting my Dad's Ruger semiauto 22, and also my Uncle's S&W K22 Masterpiece, which I ended up inheriting. After this, I started shooting a Ruger Old Army black powder 44 revolver, and then went to shooting a Ruger Blackhawk in 45 Colt, which I still have and shoot. After, I got other guns in 38 Special, 9mm 7.62x25, and 32 Auto. Most of this reflects the desire to shoot cast bullets.

So that's a brief rundown of my experience and perspective -- neither the "top" nor a beginner.

My perspective is that we can learn much from others, but that there are some things that we need to find out for ourselves by trying, such as what we might like or shoot well, or what we would rule out. I like to tell what I think to others who ask, but in the end, they must, or should, decide what is best for them, because nobody can really know everything about another person.

Surely it is not wrong to ask about another person's perspective, I hope.

Hi Timmy,

No, nothing wrong in your asking, you are much more experienced than me in shooting and I respect that. In India our facilities are limited. I did get my opportunities as I had my father as a Senior Army Officer, got married to an Army Family so had the use of the Army shooting range where ever I went. I have shot a Tokarev as well with my BIL as I have almost everything from a .22 pistol to an LMG. But having said that I am a simple Jatt and my technical knowledge is not as impressive as yours.
I merely answered in a simple way what Ek Niranjani could have understood, hope my answer satisfied him ? of course but that was my humble opinion , I am sure there are much much better informed friends on this forum who can advise him better. And I urge them to please guide our friend here on a decision which even foxes experienced shooters, In India we don't have the luxury of having multiple guns,(only 2 are allowed as of now) and maybe 75% of the license holders can process only one. Therefore the choice becomes very important . It's also cumbersome to request for a change in weapon ,so a lot of people just keep on holding weapons they have initially bought.

Anyway thank you for your the detailed experience and I am sure all our friends would have benefited from it.

Best wishes always

A handgun is a defensive weapon used in close combat. If you want a longer range then rifle is the best fit. But then you can't carry it everywhere.

15 meters is still 45 feet and believe me that’s quite a distance to save yourself, in case required. But as advised practice and practice and you’ll find it enough.
I hope you never have to use your weapon though…
