Gunsmiths in India

Post by HasnainQureshi21 » Mon Aug 26, 2024 8:14 pm

greetings to everyone, I hope everyone is doing great

I have some questions about gunsmithing and here are they

  • does gunsmiths in india need a licence for their profession
  • how does someone becomes a gunsmith in india
  • how do they find the necessary parts to repair or service a firearm
I tried looking for some gunsmiths in my city Ahmedabad, Gujarat but couldn't find anyone

I know some people who used to participate in shooting events

They told me it's a dying profession, what are your thoughts on it

1. There are two types of licenses for repair. One is on form IX-A for minor repair and other is on form IX for major repair. To get license for major repair, training certificate is needed.

2. There is no special course available in india

3. Parts are self made by gunsmiths
