New Hunting Knife
I`ve been somewhat lax in providing pictures of the knives we were discussing in the `Choice of Hunting Knife` topic.......and, as that thread has gone away from the actual topic somewhat, I`ve decided to open a new thread to show the actual knives.
To start with, here are the Beretta Loveless Hunting knives:

The knife at the top is the Semi-skinner - which is what I`m getting. In the middle is the Drop point and at the bottom the Gut-hook skinner.
The sheaths are leather and stamped with the Beretta logo

Re: New Hunting Knife
Grumps, why does the last knife have that funny shape near the tip?

Re: New Hunting Knife
On top is the gut hook - the curve at the bottom of the hook is edged. You insert the hook into a small nick that you make in an animals belly and then rip up through the skin to open the whole cavity with no risk of contaminating the carcase by slicing into the intestines`.
The very full belly of the blade below the gut hook is required for the knives skinning role where a wide radius is very helpful.

Re: New Hunting Knife
My own gut hook skinner is rather more radical than the Beretta Loveless - although nothing like as extreme as some skinners. It carries a Columbia label but exactly the same knife is available with the COLT name :

Re: New Hunting Knife
The synthetic handle Beretta Bob Loveless designed knives at around $42 ( £42 in the UK ) and the Spyderco Bill Moran featherweight designs ( shown below ) at c$59 ( £59 in the UK ) are absolute stonking bargains when you consider that these are original, established designs and a knife actually made by Loveless or Moran would cost - literally - thousands of dollars. They probably represent the only chance most of us will ever get to own a knife with one of these famous signatures on the blade.
The upswept blade Moran design won`t be as popular as the drop point as it has less application.

If yes pls give details.
Ah dont say know because it would give me a bigger heart break than the one I had when My twelfth girl friend left me because of my thirteenth affair.

Re: New Hunting Knife
Well Mack The Knife has a Spyderco Bill Moran featherweight drop point. You`ll have to ask him how to go about acquiring such a knife in India.

Re: New Hunting Knife
You could always go in for a locally made one. If you look around you could always find one to suit you requirements. check out the Mizo Bowie, though its not exactly a skinner.Rudra";p="27632 wrote:Superb Knives
