SUCCESSFUL import of weapon on transfer of residence basis
Hello,
I joined this forum a while ago and learned about the transfer of residence import method. Today I have successfully imported and got possession of my firearm ( dan wesson .45 acp). Thank you to all the members that helped and if anyone needs latest info on this process of import please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you and happy to help.

Thank you Vikram and Vineet. I will share photos in the morning. The process is pretty straight forward you have to own weapon for 1 year at least. Get export permit from country of residence. Find an airline that allows carriage of weapon and ammunition and preferably is direct to your home-state as that is the airport that will confiscate your firearms. Upon arrival the customs will detain baggage. The HARDEST thing is to get a arms license in India ads at present in Punjab there is a blanket ban on issuance of new arms licenses so it took me 30-35 days to get my arms license. After getting the license go to airport customs pay the custom duty in and out in half an hour.

Sohrab, that is a lovely pistol you have there! They lay in one's hand so comfortably -- enjoy touching off that first round!
Thanks for sharing.
