15gr pellet for px100
Hi,
I usually use around 8-9gr pellets on my px100.
Has anybody tried 13-15gr pellets? How's their performance?

The heaviest pellet in .177 that I have used is g smith field shooting , it is 9.6 grain it is good for metal targets at long distances in windy conditions. You can hear the bang from a long distance.
The pellet companies recommend at least 20 to 30 joules of energy for 15gr to 20 gr pellets or slugs. It is mentioned on the pellet box and these heavy pellets are only recommended for PCP rifles.

Would be glad to know, what exactly do you mean by long distance. I suppose, roughly 50 to 80 metres, or even longer?
Thank you

Yes, you could use heavier pellets in px 100, you can also find YouTube vedios on this topic.nikitagupta2106 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 10:10 amSo can we use 13-15gr pellets in px100? how's their performance as compared to 8-9gr pellets?

80 m is quite a distance for an airgun I suppose.Mr.Shome wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 1:00 pmHello Hornet22,hornet22 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 6:04 pmThe heaviest pellet in .177 that I have used is g smith field shooting , it is 9.6 grain it is good for metal targets at long distances in windy conditions. I mean to ask the distance you recommend in terms of long distance. As I said before, do you mean a distance of more than 50 metres and up to around 80 metres, or even more? I hope, I've been able to clearly convey my question!

Re: 15gr pellet for px100
I am not recommending or defining long range for an air rifle it is understood by anyone who uses an air rifle that even 100 m or more for an air rifle is quite a distance considering the limited power and light projectile used. Heavier pellets would have a definite advantage like 15 or 20 gr ones.
I use a springer rifle with open sights so for me even 50 to 80 m is long range on a small tin target.

You yourself said long distance, and to my simple query, I received your inputs. Yes, any bloody fool (including me) who uses airguns, knows this trivia, although, some youtubers post mind-blowing shoot ing videos with PX100 Achilles. As far as as your hitting small tin targets with spring air rifles is concerned, it's an amazing feat as 50 metres is the standard even for .22 LR Open Sight Rifles and pistols.
I thought, you used a PX 100 Air Rifle with scope for long distance. Hence, the query. Anyway, the OP's and my query doesn't seem to have been addressed in this thread.
So, I bow out to your superior knowledge, and apologise for asking a simple question.
Looks like, I was sadly mistaken.

I don't use a scope or PCP rifle because I like the simplicity of break barrel rifles and open sights that's my choice and based on that I have given my opinion.Mr.Shome wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 12:21 amYou yourself said long distance, and to my simple query, I received your inputs. It is possible to hit a tin can with an air rifle with iron sights at 50 meters who says it's an amazing feat. Tin targets come in different sizes you could use a slightly bigger target at that distance and it's still fun.
