Re: My .22 Pistol
Hi Grumps,
I did take off Inder's word too.I was in the process of it when your posts came in. I understand your points and shall discuss with the rest of the mods about editing the posts.
Apart from my own squeamishness, I went through the entire thread on IA Rusty posted and this person has an "informed" argument, I do not agree with him and would debate with him that his actions are/were wrong, but no where did he use any editable language. Hence the editing.
Same logic was applied to Inder's post too.
If you still think that the edited words are essential to what you or Inder were trying to say,go ahead.

As Grumpy says words which may earn a smacked ear or broken mandible even in real life are bandied about very flippantly on the net.
Many a time during an argument here I have felt that I could have used my powers of persuasion so much better if we were face to face, you know, really drive the point home!

Re: My .22 Pistol
Thanks for the sensible and moderate input chaps - and, no, I don`t intend to repeat the word I used. Use of a particular offensive word might seem reasonable when ones temper is inflamed but repeating it in the cold light of reason would be both stupid and downright rude - and insulting to you personally Vikram which is not what I intended.
As far as Inders use of a word that I took extreme exception to is concerned then I intend to now ignore it......with the proviso that I will not accept it being directed at me again.
I have also now read the relevent IA post and my opinion has not altered one iota ..... and nor has my opinion of the person concerned. His `informed opinion` is nothing more than an attempted justification for selfish and completely UNjustifiable behaviour. The biggest fish - which are female - produce the largest quantity of, and best quality eggs. Removing such fish from the gene pool vitually guarantees that future generations of Mahseer will not reach similar sizes. Suffice to say perhaps that such behaviour is not the action of a sportsman.

Nice rifle Mark......Somewhat upmarket from the Vespa Scooter MKI pistol. I note that neither firearm incorporates a laser range-finder.........a serious omission surely ? What calibre did you select - the .300 BS ?

Re: My .22 Pistol
I can only deduce that you called HD an a-hole and Inder responded by telling you to f-off. If that's the case, I find Inder's reaction rather strange. I have probably called him worse when he told me what he used to do with his airgun in years gone by and to his credit he changed for the better (unless he's been lying to me). So, I can only surmise he had his brains up his ar*e when he made that post.Being a nice guy yourself does not alter the fact that killing big Mahseer makes the person concerned an anal orifice and if Inder takes exception to my saying so by using copulatory metaphors you can expect me to respond in a like manner.
Vikram, this forum isn't half as 'robust' as some others we mutually frequent. However, there is nothing wrong in calling a spade a spade when it is justified.Well gentlemen,
Time again for a gentle word of caution.I think we all can express ourselves very effectively without ungentleness.Iron-hand n velvet glove stuff, remember?

Folks
The meat collector bit,has no relevance here, each to his own.
Even on IA Ham has had a different point of view on this subject.
As always and not for the first time we just loose our way,
The problem is that we end up on most occassions either attacking the
individual or his fire arms rather than the post itself,
which I think is uncalled for and in poor taste.
Give him a break, the man spent a fair amount of time on his .22 trying to
be innovative and sharing his experinces.Full marks for the effort, even
though I might not like what I see from a usability point.
I would much rather see this guy as an active member contributing to
the forum and he knows what he is talking about, not just in
theory than some of the blokes who just post a Q for the sake of
posting, trying some exotic cocktail at home after reading something on
the net which would in all probability end up causing grief.

Good Lord
why the hell are all discussing so much.
HD
Grumpy has a very humours tone (but a transparent one) and now i too am fond of it.
As for Mack The Knife, he was just doing his duty.
And above all if u are a member of this forum u must be understanding, as many of them know much more than us.
and if u feel u have developed something very good go ahead use it enjoy it why to start discussing so much.

Re: My .22 Pistol
First of all let me clear some things here...
I don't support taking Mahseer for the pot or for that matter any large fish.
I never asked Grumpy to **** off.
I never met HD or know him so I am not taking anybody's side.
But yes if you call somebody ******* on a open forum then you should be ready to be on the receiving side as well because everybody will never always agree with you.
If we take a look how this post started...
Some new guy post something which is think is a nice job but he is ridiculed and shown pics of scooters with lights and what not..
New guy feels bad report the post to mods…..mods correct him and tell him the way how this forum works.. new guy accepts that and keep mum…then without provocation again he is called names..
There are other ways to criticize people. Profanity is not always the best way to do it.
Even I felt very bad when I saw that beautiful golden Mahseer in somebody's backyard ready to cut...I didn't like what HD has done to his .22..heck I didn't even like red dot (or whatever that was) on Amit's trailside...but I think we should look at the passion behind his creation...we are not living in UK or US where somebody can go and buy these gadgets off the shelf. You never know what pains he took to get theses things in INDIA...
If you take a look at the first forum rule
1. NO profanity/ swear words - first time offenders will be warned and the post edited, a repeat offence may result in a temporary or permanent ban.
And this was not the first time... I read the post which before it was edited in Hammer shotgun topic...
I never wanted this post to go this way...I did what I think was right at that time...may be as Rusty says, I was thinking from my backside. I apologize If I hurt anybody intentionally or Unintentionally
