As far as I know, that is the correct answer.

That`s what I thought also.......and it does appear to be the case however I was surprised to discover during a quick search that the AC130 was not the first aircraft to be fitted with a 105mm gun as during WWII an Italian Piaggio P108 bomber was experimentally fitted with a 105mm cannon. The aircraft - and its gun - never saw combat.

The Hurricane was a bit too small and light for 105mm's weight and recoil. If true, it must have made one heck of a tank buster. Do you have any links to this?

WHAT ? !!!

A squadron of Hawker Hurricanes might have been shot down with a 105 mm gun but no Hurrican was ever fitted with one.........where the heck would you mount a gun that size on a Hurricane ?
The Hurricane IID and IV were fitted with a pod under each wing in which were mounted a pair of Vickers S 40mm guns. These were the planes used as ground attack aircraft in North Africa and were known as the `Flying Can Openers`.

The damn thing used to take the wing off in the pull out.
Which suggests (I could be wrong) that they were wing mounted and that there were two of them - one on each wing.

I find this very hard to believe. Can you tell us where you got this information from?

As Grumpy pointed out 105 mm is a field gun and howitzer was fitted only on C 130 during Vitenam war http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_AC-130

Incidently India is purchasing 12 or 16 of C-130Js for transport wing. Great plane just like good old Dak or DC3.
