Rear sight adjustment screw- Steyr evo10

Post by Oldpiston » Sun Mar 13, 2022 5:12 pm

Hi experts,
Firstly apologies if this is not the right thread/section for this topic. I have a evo 10 and wanted to adjust the rear sight depth. There are two screws with hex socket ( to be opened by allen key). The size could be .35 mm (not mentioned in the manual). The first screw got loosen up just fine, the second screw was tight and looks like I have put a little pressure and now its slipping with the head rounded. Have applied ballistol, kept it for 30 mins and tried to put a piece of paper in the hex slot to get a grip...but it still seems to be too tight. While I will replace the screw, any suggestion how to open it without being aggressive like using dremel? I can source jewellery making nose plier and try to put some torque on the screw, but thought to check if there are any specialised tool that someone may use in this case?

Thanks,
Oldpiston.

Update- could take the screw out by cutting a ridge on the head with my rotary.

In the pic, the screw looks very tiny. Screw driver will only work if the cut (that you make) is deep enough. Screw driver won’t work on shallow cut.

Also there are ‘broken screw removal tools’ available on Amazon.in

Here is a YouTube video that also might help

Thanks, the screw was taken out by cutting a ridge with the rotary. The allen screw is less than 2 mm to my understanding, extractor wont work here (atleast not what I have), and didn't want to use any force as could damage the rear sight.

Cheers,
OP
