Shipping of weapons and ammunition within India
As we are all aware, arms dealers in cities in the south charge atleast 20 to 25% more compared to their counterparts in say Punjab or U.P or others, for reasons best known to them. Is it possible to get weapons or ammunition shipped to South Indian cities against your license? It will save thousands and sometimes lakhs of rupees....please advice.

Arms Rules 2016 says that a dealer can send arms and ammunitions to other dealer via transport companies. If the deal is within the state then only invoice is required and if it’s out of the state then NOC and Transport license are required.drag73 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 9:21 amAs we are all aware, arms dealers in cities in the south charge atleast 20 to 25% more compared to their counterparts in say Punjab or U.P or others, for reasons best known to them. Nothing is mentioned in Arms Act/ Rules regarding direct sale to customer via shipping/ transport companies even after having proper documents like NOC and TL. Actually signatures of the customer is needed in bill book and registers.

Also a second hand vehicle and particularly a jeep ( 4x4) costs way too much in Southern India comparatively.drag73 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 9:21 amAs we are all aware, arms dealers in cities in the south charge atleast 20 to 25% more compared to their counterparts in say Punjab or U.P or others, for reasons best known to them. not a bad idea . In that case , I may have to get carry permit for each state I pass through. On practical level I think flying in and flying back will save few lakhs if you are going for a imported weaponWoods wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 1:04 pmAlso a second hand vehicle and particularly a jeep ( 4x4) costs way too much in Southern India comparatively.drag73 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 9:21 amAs we are all aware, arms dealers in cities in the south charge atleast 20 to 25% more compared to their counterparts in say Punjab or U.P or others, for reasons best known to them. This is not true. Carry permit (NOC and Transport License) are not required for every state you pass.
For example of you live in Mumbai and you buy a weapon from Bathinda then the NOC will be issued from Mumbai and transport license will be issued by Bathinda DM.
So if you have Invoice, NOC and TL then no other document is needed while carrying the gun from Bathinda to Mumbai. You can choose any route of your liking.

Vineet ji.. how about visiting the clients in other states & deliver the weapons .. just like the accounts we often read about gun & automobile makers visiting royalties in old days..

Ok, thank you for the update. But who issues the NOC at the intended destination?Vineet wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 4:13 pmThis is not true. Carry permit (NOC and Transport License) are not required for every state you pass.

drag73,
A friend of mine got an IOF pistol from Bobby Sidhu of Peerless firearms. The pistol was bought by Bobby himself, modified and then sent to my friend through Safexpress. My friend had to send his arms license through registered post. The gun came in a lockable wooden box and the lock had to be opened in front of the delivery personnel. Hope this information helps.

Only one NOC is required and it is issued by the buyer’s DM.

For purchasing ammunition from Kolkata, on State specific licence, sellers are demanding fresh permission for purchasing ammunition from local licencing authority and a TL for ammunition. Not sure if that's way.

Re: Shipping of weapons and ammunition within India
I have one more quarry. If a person has All India licence then also NOC and Transport Licence will be required or he will be able to purchase the gun anywhere in india including purchase of ammunition? Will there be any restrictions for carrying the gun to any territory of India? Actually I have applied for extention of area of license for All India validity.
