Hi Shooter
If you are planing a hunting adventure in any unreachable area of the country it will require a great deal of planning. A number of permits from the local and federal authorities, special import and re export licenses. However, trophy exports / imports require a special license. This procedure is quite hard and may take many weeks. Are you interested ?

what do u think?
anything for hunting/shooting/trophies etc.
im very intrested.
ive even spoken to mr rana (minister for agriculture, punjab, pakistan; his brother told me a bit about hunting the markhor.)
i was aslo impressed by the work of mr hussein the taxidermist in hunting masters as prior to seeing his work, i didnt hold a very high opinion of desi taxidermists.
any info/ help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks. if you wish, you could pm me or write here for the benefit of others who might be intrested.

Hi Shooter,
I
t's exceptionally good to know that you are a big fan of hunting. Since this kind of a hunt might be unprecedented , I strongly recommend you should also know that Markhor and Ibex hunting is an enormously challenging recreation that requires absolute physical fitness and forbearance. The guys should be ready for rugged hard slopes, extremely chilled weather as well as irregular flights to the hunting area.
On the positive note, Markhor hunts for enthusiasts particularly foreigners is an awe inspiring event. The permit fee could range between $40 to $45 thousand US
A big volume of proceeds acquired from hunting permits go to the communities in whose area the hunting takes place. Since Markhor hunts require a specific license that almost costs a fortune, a lot of jobs have been created specially for watchmen ( Chokidaars ) who are recruited for protecting the animal in large conservancies.
According to the President of Markhor Hunting Society whom I met at a dance party some time back, a considerable portion from the proceeds acquired from hunting permits are also utilized to carry out trivial infrastructure projects in villages where the Markhor moves about at random.
So, all the pros and cons at your disposal friend.
Please do also re-confirm the above details with the honorable Agriculture Minister of Punjab. However, should you require any further assistance related to Markhor hunt please feel free to ask me without any hesitation.
At your service Sir !
Sincerely Yours
IMRAN.

thanks a lot for the info imraan bhai.
of all the things you mentioned, ihe biggest obstacle ( for me) is the price; at least for the next few years.
my understanding was that the hunting outfitters abroad charge more but if i deal directly with a pakistani outfitter, the charges would have been less. alas that is not so. i think i will let it rest for a few years.
markhor can be hunted only in pakistan so im not surprised people willing to pay that much.
at the moment its out of my budget.
maybe ill go for something cheaper initially.
cheers.

'there' as in uk ? or india? well air guns are legal in both the copuntries and in the uk we can use them for foxes, hares, rabbits etc but not deer.
in india hunting in ANY form is banned. not even with a stick/spear/sword/stone let alone an airgun.
