Its the Gyrojet pistol, fires "rocket bullets". Was shown on Guns and Ammo TV some time back.

Blimey......there`s a `rave from the grave`. Saw a demonstration of a Gyrojet pistol many years ago - what a load of rubbish ! Accuracy was pitiful......and so was the power produced.

The handgun is M.B.A. 13mm Gyrojet made in USA and designed by Robert Mainhardt and Art Biehl. Not a successful weapon.

Heck what a bunch of boring Nerds we have here..

Isnt there some kind if net etiquette forbidding members to give the right answer (that too on the first try) to a member who has taken all the trouble to research and pop up a quiz??

Ah, just goes to show that you shouldn`t pick something as obvious as the Gyrojet !

I remember seeing one of those funky guns in a gunshop in the 70's. Made enough of an impression on me that I never forgot about the story of them.

Kinda like that annoying kid in 2nd grade who you can't ever seem to totally erase from your mind...

Absolutely right Mark - I first saw the Gyrojet getting on for 45 years ago in a magazine and it made an indelible impression on me. So `Buck Rogers`........ even more `Jetsons`.

Even if Mark and I had gone to the same school we wouldn`t have known each other - I`m nine years older...... however I note that you are only five years younger than Mark...........
I`ll bet `Swotty` Bana was a really annoying 2nd grader........and teachers pet of course !

Well, that's true...but I was reliably informed that you were a bit of a research scholar.

By the way, those four holes in the base of the Gyrojet `cartridge` are the rocket venturis which are angled slightly away from each other so as to impart stability via spin.......Which worked - to a ( very ) limited degree of accuracy.
