How practical is the ammo limit of 100/200
The basic idea should be that a person who bears arms is adequately proficient in the use of the same, but our law of ammo limit is directly in contrast to the above.
What good is a weapon if the person using it doesn't know how to use it, and for learning that he/she needs to practice shooting at a range but with the limit in place there is virtually no training.
Not being able to train is in my opinion more dangerous than having no weapons as in case of firearms the person would hardly have any control over the aim or recoil, so it would be more like spray and pray if you can.
Please tell me if my thoughts are on the wrong track.

Your thoughts are on the right track!
Becoming proficient in the use of a firearm certainly requires training, and proficiency is a part of safety. Although this will sound entirely ridiculous (although not as ridiculous as imposing a limitation on ammunition to begin with!) if one had to pick a number for an annual limit, I would suggest a minimum of 10,000 rounds per year, per firearm.

Thanks, because a person who is not proficient in the handling of the firearm will hit unintended targets just because they have no training.timmy wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 4:20 amYour thoughts are on the right track!

Oh, I was not aware there is an ammo limit in India.
That sucks.
Does that apply to ranges as well, or only private persons? Can you go to a range and buy ammo there for direct use?
200 rounds for a handgun is nothing. That how much I usually go through in 2h of training...

Re: How practical is the ammo limit of 100/200
This ammo limit is enough for a normal licence holder who uses his handgun for selfprotection. Secondly if you want to become more proficent in any discipline of shooting ,you become member of a rifle club, where you will be able to practice SAFELY and Correctly with the guidance and supervision of someone with good experience who will be the quatermaster / coach . You will start to learn the cardinal principles of shooting and it will become good habit . In a rifle club you will get any number of match grade rounds for practice at a fraction of the price of KF rounds. So why do you need excess of 100/200 rounds . This limit is to keep proliferation and misuse of ammunition and blackmarketing.
Moreover, when you become a member of a rifle club and you participate in competetions and become a Aspiring shooter, your ammo limit is raised as per the Arms Rules 2016.

Are you suggesting that people should use. 177 or. 22 for self defense because these are the only handgun ammo available at the rifle clubs.veeveeaar wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 3:42 pmThis ammo limit is enough for a normal licence holder who uses his handgun for selfprotection. I would like to inform that Pistol shooting / Target shooting is done with .22 and .32 rounds . It is a cheap and best option to use NRAI supplied Imported ammo.

Not everyone wants or have .22/.32 gun. If your firearm has nothing to do with Olympics then you will not find reasonable ammunition or support.

Absolutely correct. Why should one be forced to buy 22/32 weapon for self defense.

I am kidding. I Just said that I knew people who shot like 100,000 rounds. I don't even know why he took it as an offense.
