Re: How to open end metal cap
Dear Dalvi,
Leather seal also perform very well.
Just clean the entire piston with 320 grit.
Mirror finish the interfaces of trigger n piston sear.
Drench the new leather seal in any oil for 12 hrs.
Clean the inside of action using soft cloth.
Mop the piston n make it free of any dirt or dust.
Put back the new seal after mopping the extra oil.
Use lithum grease on the spring and piston bearing area.
Gsmith35 spring may rattle the AR better go for 27.
You can also use ordinery spring with 39 coils.
Reassemble.....discover a whole new AR.
BTW what is the model ?

Re: How to open end metal cap
Hi Basu sir ,
I have ordered the parts from kovibazar but tomorrow they will confirm if they can deliver to Mumbai ..
The model number is not there on this rifle , nor caliber , actually no number or anything is stamped except 37 number stamped below the breach block ..
Cheers
Pravin

Re: How to open end metal cap
Got the spares last week and ,
Spring is 3 cm longer than the old one , but the old one is bent and has low pitch then the new one...
Piston seal kept soaked in 2T oil overnight , stil could not go through so used sand paper to grind some off the diameter , fitted in ..
Breach seal also soaked in oil overnight , hammered in and cut the rest with swiss knife , some portion went inside barrel pushed that with cleaning rod.
Now what I have noticed is with this setup I have to push 11cm of pre load inside the action which is NOT possible and if I do gun will be very slappy ..
I need to cut the spring by 2 inches to get the right pre load ..
I do have angle grinder at home , will give a try today !
Ref video as below

Re: How to open end metal cap
Dear Pravin ,
Have you trimmed the leather seal from top ?
I find it is not protuded enough.....I may be wrong....
But if the seal is not at this stage protuded enough, then there is every possiblity that the screw on top will bang the dead end.
Cutting a spring is not easy task so better to use a grinder.

No I have not trimmed the seal at all from the top ,
Even I do have same doubt if the screw can hit the top of chamber but can't test it for now
Spring cutting I wil try tomorrow , I do have angle grinder so would be a good rest

Re: How to open end metal cap
Update ,
I had to cut the spring 4to 5 cm to make a 50mm preload
Flatten it on the grinder n heat n level the end
Greased piston n spring , piled piston seal n asembled the rifle .
Putting the last pin was tough and am working on spring compressor , need some bolts n parts I'll finish n put pictures . Which I'll be using to open Artemis as well.
Anyways , the cocking is hard but smooth with new spring n lube , fired 20 shots so far and it's shooting with a cannon smoke dieseling at its peak ..
Hoping shell calm down after the excess oil goes away ..
Kept her upside down , wiped the breach n transfer port .
The pul through are coming coal black due to dieseling but let's see how she behaves after 50 shots .
Cheers
