What laws regulated civil gun market in Russia?
Federal Law "On Weapons" dated 13.12.1996 N 150-FZ

which calibers are legal and which are prohibited?
legal all calibers, including 50 BMG
There is a ban only on the sale of armor-piercing cartridges, shotgun cartridge for gas pistols and revolvers (mean .35 Grenalle caliber)

what weapons can you buy for self defense?
- 1 shotgun (any barrel length, any system including semi-automatic, pump-action and any other - Striker-Protecta and Mag 7-1 legal too) (including in cal 366TKM and 345TK) - for home defence
- 2 less-lethal (traumatic) pistols or revolvers or devices without barrel like PB 4-2 in cal 18,5x55 or PB 4-1 OSA in cal 18x45 - legal to carry in public
- any number without licenses -Taser, stun guns, pepper spray, pepper pistols like UDAR - legal to carry in public

normal pistols and revolvers legal?
Yes, but only for sport.Need be a member gun club or IPSC member and have rank - Master of Sport, after this may go to police and take license and buy Glock or 1911 or CZ-75 and other stuff and have this gun at home and buy ammo
Other citizens may buy too, but storage only in the sports club

reloading are legal?
Yes.Shotgun cartridge from 1996 years,cartridge for rifle from 2018 years

silencer (suppressor) are legal?
Basic NO, but in russian laws silencer (suppressor) its only 10-15 military models, other NOT silencer
Legal may have military silencer at home ,but dont use in you weapons
Have other category devices in russian laws - "closed muzzle brake" - its absolute legal use with you weapons

Hunting in Russia legal?
Yes.Need only hunting license
Free - in time 10-15 days available
for example

What weapons can a hunter buy?
5 - shotgun any type any caliber
5 - rifle any type any caliber
- any quantity of cold weapon - dagger etc

there is a restriction on the possession of rifled barrels weapons?
Yes.For hunters need holder shotgun license 5 years ,after this may buy rifle (any types any calibers including semi AK AR-15 and many other stuff)
Exceptions, no need 5 years holder shotgun license:
- professional hunters
- sport shooters

I want a lot of weapons 100-200 units its possible?
Yes.Need special type license - collection license and may buy all what you need shotguns,swords,katana,rifle,cartridges and many other stuff

Yes.If blade no longer 90 mm may buy, carry, sell and other

NO,but legal knife like this

Can foreigner get a gun license?
NO.Only Russian citizens are issued a weapons license
Exceptions:
- A foreigner buys something in an arms store for export (license issued max 2 week)
- A foreigner came to hunt
Legal foreigner may buy and carry (only for 18 years and older) - pepper spray, stun gun, taser, pepper spray pistol

Have civil who legal carry a normal pistols?
Yes.Some retired police and army officers may have a reward - service pistol
Its special police license RNGa series - in present issued 20-25000 this license in Russia
For example

Basic model Makarov,TT,PYa (Grach) in present time (start 2005 years) also Glock-17, Glock-19, Beretta 92, Steyr M,SIg Sauer P226 and some other modern models

Yes.May carry in public with no legal reason, its only sports tool

Carry knife in public place legal?
Yes.May carry in public with no legal reason, knife only tools in russian laws
Exceptions:
- Daggers (with blade longer 90 mm)
- special hunting knife

Basic NO,but if telescopic baton have tools like this

Its not BATON its tools with telescopic handle.This "tools" may legal carry in public with no legal reason

Fantastic, thanks a ton for the info Russianahooter. Love how gun friendly the country is.

What are the places in Russia for legal hunts - presume on the outskirts of Kamchatka or thereabouts? Of course I can google it but would be good to know first hand.

Hope you are doing fine considering how grim the situation is at present
