German Mauser K98 or Yugoslavian Mauser M48
I am looking to buy a German k98 or a Yugoslavian M48 rifle. I believe both of these mausers come in .315 bores and fire 8x52 mm rounds. Is it available in India and will the ammo availability be a problem here? The price is not an issue here. Thank you all.

You need to be clear in your post. Are you looking for these models adapted to fire either of the cartridges you mentioned? Both the standard K98 and M48 were chambered for the 7.92X57IS/JS cartridge. Many were modified to take different cartridges after WW-II for civilian use.

While the issue bore is 7.92x57 which is the bore diameter and case length in metric, .315” will be the bore diameter in Imperial. Groove diameter is 8 thou of an inch more.gives us 0.323” in imperial or 8mm. this could have possible been read as a .315!
A 98 Mauser is a very strong action and rechambering it to the obsolete Austrian Hungarian cartridge which is the IOF .315 is IMO a waste of a fine rifle - And ammo should be available- at a premium, as usual. So a Mauser or Yugo made 7.92x57 in decent condition is a good buy.

I want an original M48 or K98 without any rechambering i.e. the ones that fire 7.92x57 rounds and preferably without any modifications. Are these rounds NPB in India? If so, are there any Mauser K98 or M48 available for sale here?

There could be some. There was a post by a member who had one. You have to search the forum. I doubt any fresh ammo could be found or even old ammo for that matter. Not PB.
