POI shifts downward while using other pellets
Sir,
In most of under ₹10000/- indian air guns i found front post is fixed and rear sight with Windage adjustment only. No scope for elevation adjustment. In case of such type of gun sometimes I faced problem with different types of pellets. Found , only a particular brand / type ( e.g. Master Shot famous round 0.177 ) hits perfect , but with other pellets ( e.g. United Shot Dyna , G Smith , Coal, Excite etc ) POI shifts downward.( 1 inch approx in 10-12 meter range )
Zeroing is impossible in open sight in these cases bcoz of No Elevation Adj provide with rear sight .
So, what will I do to eliminate this issue ?
May I have to use Only that pellet for that particular AR or May I install Indian peep sight ?
Providing u some pic to understand my issue.
Request to assist me to resolve this issue.
Regards,
ZA

I see an elevation adjustment screw in the first picture. Is that not working? What is the make of this air rifle?
Nice group in the last picture.

From what distance you are shooting?
Most air rifles are zeroed from 25 meters.

Vineet Ji,
1)Max 12+1.5 m straight length is available in my home [emoji4]
2) if Elevation screw is fixed how zeroing is possible Sir ?
3) May I use that type of peep sight to overcome this ?
4) i also have installed 11mm dovetail rail for scope but quality of scope is below std. Thus I kept it in my garbage bin.
Pls suggest.
Aside : Bose Babu, ki kori bolun toh !!!

Re: POI shifts downward while using other pellets
The point of impact movement up and down is common when you change pellets , because of the different in pellet weight .
If you zero your rifle with one pellet and use heavier pellets to shoot , the impact Wil be down and if light Wil be up ....
Try to explore if any rear sight from other models can be used , if not scoping or diopter sights are the only options left ,
Cheers

Re: POI shifts downward while using other pellets
It's common in all the guns, not only up and down sometimes poi will be shifted on the left or right depending on the shape and length of the pellets

Re: POI shifts downward while using other pellets
I recall that shift in poi from high to low in a break barrels or pcp is due to increase or decrease in pellet weight. The shift in POI from left to right or vice versa is due to issue with the barrel or its fitting with the breach/action provided pellet weight is consistent.
The above conditions are applicable/ justifiable provided the gun is shot using a bench rest or the shooter is consistent in his shooting postures.
