Now lets analyze what Inder did,the end result of which is that he has his air rifle while some one else......Rather, lets see what Inder did not do.

1.He did not take out a notification and shove it under the nose of the customs official at the outset of his 'adventure'.Thereby implying that he knew more than the fellow confiscating his gun and that the fellow did not know how to do his job.

2.He did not call up all the politicians that count for nothing in the larger scheme of things and ask them to intervene on his behalf.Thereby avoiding pissing off people who can really screw you by for eg. charging demurrage at an unrealistic rate.

3.He did not lose his cool and so was not asked to present a) a rifle club membership card b) renowned shot certificate /letter from the Ministry of Sport and c) pay 100% duty.

Inder, accept my congratulations on your new acquisition and also on a job well done.

Thanks for taking the time to list the whole story! And what a story it was :-)

I'm curious Inder, did you have to pay any storage costs for your airgun? I read in some other post that Customs had demanded an exorbitant amount for storage?

Thanks a lot guys,

As I already stated, the key is to keep your cool, if you try to throw your weight around, they will screw you royaly.

And the second thing why it didn't felt so bad to me coz somehow I expected all this, People who expect a smooth sailing are fooling themselves, My rifle came as a special baggage so I expected this to happen because there was no way I could have walked out of green channel without being spotted.

GG: No I haven't paid anything as storage charges, I don't know why people are claming here otherwise.

Ah you tell me..:D

Seriously we need to start something official on the HFT front now, There are so many people with good air rifles. We need to find some other use than general plinking.

Hi Inder absolutely fab looking gun.I am sure you would have loads of fun with it oops sorry her.

To the people who are reading this, the gun sports lovers/Antis and the authorities. If you go through Inder's very honest and detailed account of what happened in his case of importing an air rifle with which no terrorist activities could be conducted, the lack of co-operation from the authorities, lack of co-ordination and clarity of rules and corruption. The time and money you need to spend! You have laws and we need to have laws. But, why cannot we ensure that they are applied efficiently without bothering the law abiding citizens?

Hats off to you Inder for going through all the motions and getting what is rightly yours.

Best-
Vikram

Mack The Knife sir will obviously need to check the rifle and find out what fodder suits it the best.He has to do a lot of hard work so that airgunners get the best from their airguns.Turbans off to the man.

BTW Mack The Knife sir, want a lesson on how to sharpen a knife. The blade of the pocket knife that I have has become dull.It is SS.Please start a thread on this. Now before I get my ears tweaked I think that I should get off this topic.
