Iver Johnson Revolver
Hi,
I have found a .32 Iver Johnson Revolver for sale through my colleague. The revolver is top-brake, 5-shot, very small sized revolver. I am attaching a similar photo of the revolver. The condition of the “revolver for sale” is better than the picture attached. Can anyone suggest the price the revolver.

Depending on the condition perhaps somewhere between 60 & 90 K.Am sure it will command a higher price
than the IOF .32
You do get Erma revolvers anywhere bet 80 & 1 L.
Cheers

Re: Iver Johnson Revolver
Hi,
I can view the revolver in original within 10-15 days. Then I will measure it and post the resust and also the real photo of the revolver if possible. AND
Jonah, from this forum I came to know the foreign arms are unreasonably high priced in India. So, why this iver johnson is low prised comparison to that accoring to you. Is there any problem with this model ?

Re: Iver Johnson Revolver
lawman, Phoren handguns do command crazy prices, but not all makes. H&R break tops (and Ivor Johnsons) would go for around 45,000-50,000. if the seller asks for more, put your foot down and refuse. it's not going to be worth it, even by indian standards.Lawman";p="26136 wrote: Hi,

also, check and re check the gun very very carefully. the spainyards have made copies of the ivor johnsons in the past. these clones are dangerous guns to fire! and get passed around as phoren guns (technically true).
i know of one respected IFG member who wouldn't touch them with a bargepole. so be careful with what you're going in for.

Re: Iver Johnson Revolver
Be warned that these revolvers were invariably chambered for the .32 Short and not the .32S&W Long cartridge.Hence the 'cheap' price. No dealer will however tell you this as the revolver can and will chamber and fire the .32 S&W long.Prolonged use of .32S&W long ammo int his gun can only prove harmful for the gun and in the long run,one day for the health of the user also.I would give it a pass.

Re: Iver Johnson Revolver
.32 ACP would generate more pressure than the .32 S&W long and would be a sure shot recipe for a disaster..32 Short aka .32 S&W is exactly that , a shorter version of the .32 SW Long.Or you can say that the .32S&W Long is a lengthened version of the .32 S&W.

IOF .32 Ashani pistol uses different cartridge, called .32 ACP, not .32 S&W long or short. Picture attached.

Also add that all IJ revolvers I've handled had unnervingly thin cylinder walls. Whether its because of too much use or just made like that I have no way of knowing.penpusher";p="26144 wrote:Be warned that these revolvers were invariably chambered for the .32 Short and not the .32S&W Long cartridge.Hence the 'cheap' price. No dealer will however tell you this as the revolver can and will chamber and fire the .32 S&W long.Prolonged use of .32S&W long ammo int his gun can only prove harmful for the gun and in the long run,one day for the health of the user also.I would give it a pass.

penpusher is right- .32S&W Long will probably convert the revolver into very effective shrapnel.
I&J's, H&R's and the like were made to be cheap waaaay back then. No reason why they shouldn't remain so. Besides, they are pretty obsolete. Don't get crapped around by the 'Phoren' tag.
As regards the to and fro between .32ACP and .32S&W Long and short, the .32ACP is a bit of a blend between a rimless and rimmed cartridge. It has the extractor groove of all rimless cartridges but its rim extends beyond the diameter of the cartridge. This allows it to be fired from quite a few revolvers as well.
