One shooting outfitter outside India tried these Japanese quails by releasing them from a trap cage ( wicker basket ). They don't fly at all. Experiment failed.

In Spain and UK there are still ranges where live Pigeon competitions are held. It was very fashionable in 1910s to 1950s are pigeon shooting clubs were there all over England and Europe even USA.

Eley, Hull and others even developed special 1 Oz special pigeon loads for such events.
