Procedure of selling the weapon, licence of which has expired several years ago

Hello everyone, I'm just asking out of curiosity.... As it just popped in my mind
What is the procedure of being able to sale the weapon,(noc for sale)
If the arms license of that has been expired several years ago..... Like 5-10 years
Nd What will happen to the weapon?
Will it be confiscated by the police or the person will be given permission to sell it within a fixed period of time?
Also what would be the legal action which would taken against the license holder?
P.s- I'm asking in accordance to punjab state

First you will have to deposit the weapon in safe custody with arms dealer or police station and then apply for NOC for sale of the weapon.

NOC can be given on expired license. It is not necessary for the license to be renewed to issue sale NOC.

Just as that, i thought there would be huge formalities..... Wont the noc issuing authority be asking questions as why the person wasn't able to renew his license or anything else....

Ok ok thanks to you vineet sir..... it means On grounds of sufficient proofs that the license was unable due to some genuine reason.... Noc would be granted

The problem will not be in granting sale NOC but questions will be asked why the owner kept weapon with him after expiry of the license.
