Post by kiran2608 » Fri Feb 15, 2019 9:37 am

Hi everyone,

It’s a dream and passion to start an air gun store.

I would like to know what all licences am I supposed to get for starting a store.

Request the seniors and legal experts to guide and help me.

Regards,
Kiran

As per my knowledge you don't need any permission/license to sell .177 air rifles/pistols.

To sell .22 air rifles/pistols you need license on Form VII C of the Arms Rules 2016. Also as per Arms rules 2016, you can sell the .22 air rifles/pistols to the person having license to purchase these.

It is due to this rule, major companies like Precihole have stopped manufacturing of .22 air rifles. Some say that there is stay from court on this rule but I am not sure about that.

Hope it helps.

Dear kiran, hope this helps your search

The provisions for Air Weapon Dealers are contained in rule 84 and 85 of the Arms Rules, 2016. “Air weapon dealer” means a dealer, who buys, sells, transfers or keeps for sale or transfer air weapons having muzzle energy less than 20 joules or 15 ft. lbs. and/or bore less than 0.177”or 4.5 mm and having been granted a licence in Form VIII-A by the licensing authority.
