.22 BRNO RIFLE

Post by Jr. » Mon Feb 04, 2019 7:15 pm

I own a .22 Brno Rifle ( Cal .22 Long Rifle)
The specification/features are mentioned below

1. This is a Model 2 also known as ZKM 452.
2. The Rifle is made in Czechoslovakia.
3. On the Barrel is inscribed 'ZBROJOVKA BRNO N.P.
N.P. is an abbreviation for 'Narodni Podnik' , which means 'State Owned Enterprise'.
4. '65' is inscribed on both the Barrel and Receiver (Left Side),
Which indicates the Year of Manufacture (1965).
5. The Barrel has a Matt finish.
6. The Front Sight has a Sight Carrier.
7. The Rear Sight can be adjusted up to 200 Yard.
8. The Rifle has a 6 Groove Barrel.
(This can be seen once the Bolt is extracted).
9. The last 3 digits of the Rifle Serial Number are inscribed on the Bolt.
10. The Stock is made of De-Luxe Walnut with checkring of 18 LPI (lines per inch).
11. 2mm. vent is placed and on the right side of the Bolt.
This helps the bolt to function smoothly even with the presence of minor sand and dust particles.
12. There is a gas port located just behind the Serial Number on the right side of the Receiver.
This allows the gas/heat to escape once a cartridge is fired.
Both Feature 11&12, as listed, also help prevent any sand/dust particle hitting the eye.
13. I have both 5 Round and 10 Round magazine for the Rifle.
14. 'Tasco' 3-9X32E, Telescopic Sight is mounted on the Rifle.
Magnification: 3x to 9x and Objective Lens: 32mm.

Jr.

Any suggestions to procure 15mm scope mount. I also have brno model 5 and the size of the rail (15mm) for mounting the scope is quite rare..

Contact your local gunsmith and ask him if a 20 mm rail can be attached to your rifle. I recently attached a 20 mm rail to my IOF .30-06 Rifle. I had to go to a Gunsmith in Chandigarh to do so. Now my riflescope is more stable and can hold zero for longer.

I would not recommend any alteration on the Rifle.
Parts which can be externally fitted and removed is okay.
Try and get a Mount & Scope which will sit on the Rail.
Leave the Gun in its original form.
Getting a competent Gun Smith is difficult.
Imported Rifles may get ruined, will fitting a Scope.

Sportsmatch of UK manufactures mounts for 15mm rails to be used on BRNO Mod. 2. Try to source a pair. I have fitted one on my 1973 BRNO. IIRC the parts no. is T048
