I need advice on buying a cheap multiple shot 0.177 caliber air gun

I want it for protection from venomous snakes in my area. I know multiple pellet shot guns are expensive, but maybe the community here can guide me to a cheap one. Also please suggest any alternate rifles/guns that perform well and are economical, single/multiple shot.
