It's always better to use firearms away from populated area. If you are using firearm on roof top (unless it is a farm house) your neighbours may complain it to police and you can land in trouble as firearms use in populated area is not allowed as it may pose danger for others.

A woman was in killed in Bathinda, Punjab by a guy who was practicing with his rifle on roof. Here is the link to the news story

I am wondering what kind of backstop you are using on roof top because you need lots of mud filled sand bags to have a proper backstop. Any hard surface like brick wall is not recommended for backstop because bullets may ricochet.

Hi,

I believe its not about legality of Firing shots from Rooftop but the safety hazard one might create while doing this stupidity. Bullets do not act as shown in Movies. Physics has its own laws.

To the best of my knowledge it is illegal to discharge a firearm within the boundaries of cities, towns, etc., unless one has a permission for a range.

No matter how careful you are, shooting on a roof-top is inviting trouble, not necessarily from accidents. Please reconsider.

Just dont do it! DONT!!

There are a lot of stupid people who have posted a lot of stupid videos on You Tube. They are the exception! Please do not be inspired by them.
It is a tragedy waiting to happen.

Find a range and practice.
