Hi guys,
I had ordered 20mm picatinny rail base for my rifle with scope rings from aliexpress but has been detained by kolkata custom.A . 22barrel cleaning tool which consist of a thread to be inserted inside the barrel is also detained. Are these items prohibited or restricted for import in India.
I need your advice, thanks in advance.

Maybe because of lack of knowledge...
Next time try to import a pink male kinky underwear and see if they detain that too.
These people in custom are playing some shady games. I think they are supplying those detained item to others who pay.
Btw did you try to contact them.

Really painful to know even accessories are now being detained by Kolkata custom.Few days ago I too ordered low mounts for my scope and now I am bit worried wether it will also be detained by them.Don't know what is wrong with them.

Btw I also ordered a rifle sling & it has released from custom after 9 days but didnt recieved it yet.

It seems the Kolkatta customs are trying everything they can to increase their kitty! To me this reeks of nothing more than how to extort money from an honest citizen

This is to keep you posted customs is undergoing lot of changes owning to new set of regulations being implemented.
Multiple items have been banned from being imported commercialy including Ornamental fishes & pets however these can be still imported by individuals. This might not be related to AR accessories but I believe these changes have made them confused hence the delay / discrepancy.
Its high time Kolkata customs releases a collated list of banned items for reference of the individuals.
