Celebrated by the Local Tribal people and they go to the Jungle for an over night Hunting Quest in teams from every villages or few small villages combined, mostly armed with traditional weapons. After a Detail Puja and other custom done the sendra Teams dispatched for near by jungles. As any sort of hunting is now banned and this particular event is mostly celebrated symbolic and most of the teams are satisfied with some vermin control in near by areas.

As its almost a month now the sendra festival is coming to its end. Due to thunder storm and rains the festival is delayed by almost a week. In my near by Jungles like Talsa which is just a KM and Half from my residence, few dozens of Wild boar, Jack rabbit, porcupine and deer were shot down.
We have requested the forest guards to drove the animals to some other areas for time being. but they said that its too much hot day now and they have few man power so they cant help.
I am not sure on whom we should felt pity, the Poor creatures or the Govt. ( Our elected Govt. of course).
I was there almost two hours, though at that time no kill was made even after numerous attempts. Its hardly a hunt rather a massacre. people were shooting arrows and spear without even looking that others were standing on their shot direction. funny thing is many people come from other districts. when we catch some of them, they simply said that they are here with some of there relatives. nothing we can do....

I feel sorry for being called VEER to people, they needs to improve their marksmanship - Haji

ha ha ha. Right on The Marksmanship and " VEER" part. but wrong on numbers.

The Group I Mentioned above post was a small group. about 70/80 People divided in groups. What I heard next day that they shot around 10 wild boars, 3 porcupines. almost a dozen rabbits. one deer and almost 1/2 dozen dove and other birds.
Its a vast area so 50/100 people gathered in groups, mostly few villages joined together and they go to their near by jungles. only a handful try to go deep where actually the elephant corridor exists Till orissa/CG boarder. that's a reserved area.
