Lots of people in India own 1911 pistols, these were issued in fairly large numbers to ex-servicemen under the NSP scheme. You'll find these made by various companies who were contracted to supply the same to the US military.

Though to be precise most of them will be the 1911A1 model and not the older 1911 model which preceded it.

Till middle of last year .45 ACP was under the "restricted" list of calibres, but the new Arms Rules 2016 have removed it from that list and now it is a "permissible" calibre and can be owned on an ordinary handgun license.

The ammunition isn't currently manufactured here though, imported ammunition retails for upwards of ₹200 - ₹250 per round. Most commonly available brand is S&B.

The pistols themselves go for upwards of ₹400,000 these days (depending on make & condition).

Cheers!

I Have 2 1911 A1s purchased around 3-4 months ago for a much higher price than quoted above by Mundaire.
Its a lovely American Classic and worth it! Its much superior to the 9mm which is PB.

1. COLT 1911
2. Ithaca 1911
Both Chambered in .45 ACP
Round costs from Rs 150-400 depending on the availability and location.

Those are some great prices. A colt in good shape new is over $800. I just bought a colt delta elite 10mm. Was $1200 us.

Is there anyone who knows how to obtain/buy spare magazines for a Colt 1911 MKIV Series 70 chambered in .45 ACP?
