See Through Supressor Filmed in Slow Motion

Destin of Smarter Every Day teamed up with Soteria Suppressors to film see through suppressors with a super slow motion camera. Soteria used a cast acrylic sleeve as the shroud for the suppressor, thus allowing the super slow motion camera to capture the muzzle blast and expansion inside the suppressor.

Really interesting video.

Cheers!

Hi Sir,

Nice video. I could not find any other suitable post regarding suppressor hence asking. Are suppressors legal for AR's in India. As I find multiple debates in international forums regarding the same.

Regards

TWO SCENARIOS

1) If an airgun satisfies the conditions as laid out under Central Government notification No. G.S.R 991 dated 13-7-1962 (see viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2335 ) then that airgun would be exempt from "ALL PROVISIONS" of the Arms Act 1959, therefore any moderator / suppressor type device attached on any such airgun would be perfectly legal.

2) On the other hand, if the airgun in question does not satisfy the above conditions, then it would be classified as a firearm and treated the same as a real firearm. This would necessarily mean that one would require an arms license to own/ possess the same. Therefore (as required for a real firearm) any moderator/ suppressor attached to it would require to be licensed (while the provision exists I have yet to see someone with a license for a moderator/ suppressor). If any such airgun is in .177 cal AND which produce less than 15 ft lbs/ 20 Joules Muzzle Energy, it would be exempt from requiring an arms license, but all other provisions of the Arms Act (including applicable penalties) would still apply.

Hi Sir,

Thankyou for your prompt response. Would require a bit help in understanding the 2 nd clause. If I interpret correctly an airgun even being exempted from being a firearm (Licence) will attract other regulations applicable e.g. Suppressor

Let me try to be even more specific:-

Scenario 1 - The airgun satisfies conditions laid out under Central Government notification No. G.S.R 991 dated 13-7-1962 - IT IS EXEMPT FROM ALL PROVISIONS OF ARMS ACT

Scenario 2 - The airgun fails to satisfy conditions laid out under Central Government notification No. G.S.R 991 dated 13-7-1962 BUT it is of .177 calibre AND ALSO produces muzzle energy BELOW 15 ft lbs/ 20 Joules - IT IS EXEMPT FROM Requirement of Arms License but would attract all other provisions of the Arms Act

Scenario 3 - The airgun fails to satisfy conditions laid out under Central Government notification No. G.S.R 991 dated 13-7-1962 AND it is of .177 calibre BUT produces muzzle energy ABOVE 15 ft lbs/ 20 Joules - IT WOULD BE TREATED THE SAME AS A REAL FIREARM attracting all provisions and penalties under the Arms Act

Scenario 4 - The airgun fails to satisfy conditions laid out under Central Government notification No. G.S.R 991 dated 13-7-1962 AND it is of any calibre above .177 - Irrespective of muzzle energy IT WOULD BE TREATED THE SAME AS A REAL FIREARM attracting all provisions and penalties under the Arms Act
