After doing practically nothing useful all year long at the tax payers expense the least they can do is at least stand up for 3 and a half minutes. That should at least burn a few calories(Most of which seem to be hoarded in their mid-sections)

Oh, there are so many common words "Babua" is a Georgian word meaning a grandfather . Little ones usually say "babu" in an affectionate sense

'desi'- derived from 'deshi', literally means ' belonging to own country, not foreign(videshi).

usually used in india also to mean rustic, or a country bumpkin.

it is a semi demeaning word when used by and for indians outside india and may mean ' freshie' a person very new to uk (or us or wherever) which means he has not culturally adapted himself to the life there. ( read ill mannered, poor english etc.)
in the same context may also be used for an indian (or pakistani) who might be living there ( uk, us etc) but has yet to learn the western ways.

Add about 10 seconds per stand up and sit down - seeing how unfit these bums are, getting up or down would be a major effort.

Let me give another take on the photo.The national anthem is sung at the beginning and at the end of the function.

Scenario 1.The flag was unfurled(one of these gents must have done it) and every one stood up for the national anthem.These gentlemen waited for the anthem to actually begin before standing up.In the meanwhile this photo was clicked .

Scenario 2.The compeer asked everybody to stand up for the national anthem. Everybody stood up and these gents waited for the anthem to actually begin.

Pictures do not tell the entire story many times.

BTW has anybody taken the views of the people we are so happily abusing here.

HI! penpusher that run in happened 3 years ago and that HS got transfered six months after that and the current one is his sucessor - so I'm not smarting and this may not thave anything to do with shooting but it was important enough to make frontpage news and I for one am concerned about the blatant disregard of the rules and regulations by the babus so are a lot of other ppl. and we are just discussing the news report . It is amply clear from the pic that everyone except the "worthies" whom u choose to defend are all standing and the national anthem is well underway with the lady in the back trying to goad the HS & FS into standing up and these "worthies" seemed so engrossed in their gossiping that they are not realising what is going on and are pretty startled and looking back at her - And I dont think any of these "Unworthies" unfurled the flag as the dude would have to be at the podium to do so. Regarding place lotsa articles here on dogs, Vehicles , etc etc etc dont relate to shooting but they are here and so is this

I said in my earlier post to "neuter"them.But, also, I see what penpusher is trying to say. The "steel frame" is not entirely to blame.If every one in the civil services is as worthless as popular belief tends to be, this country would have been a goner long back.There are so many honest and efficient officers who go unnoticed and unappreciated.

Actually, penpusher and Vikram have a point. My apologies to those who ill deserve my abuse. Indeed, like politicians(Surprise of surprise!) there are definitely honest and hard working bureaucrats who are all too often unsung and forgotten. I actually know a few who fall into this category. I borrow a lot of my anti-babu venom from them

These few deserve even more respect because unlike most people (Me included) who are more inclined to make noise and spew fire and brimstone for next to zero corresponding action, they quietly go about their work and duties...no whining or complaining... against the odds.

It's these few, who keep the country going in spite of all the abuse in the system. The rest hog the credit and make all the noise and milk the system.

The unfortunate thing is these folks are far too few. This is what is wrong with the country...

Also, if one asks, what is the primary yearning of a majority of Civil Service aspirants? Most will confess - Power and prestige(Certainly it's not the pay)... so thus, you have a large number of folks joining the civil service for misplaced reasons(Maybe I'm being too idealistic here) and there in lies the germ of our nations systemic chaos.

well the picture looks very clear to me - the very fact that all of them are standing (except the morons) means that they all had ample time to stand up in time for the anthem and for such a crowd to be in one position would definitely take a few seconds if not a min or two.
