New addition - SDB Artemis

Post by SMJ » Sun Oct 01, 2017 9:39 am

Inspired by Rudransh and his review and video of the SDB Artemis added one in .177 cal of course.

Beauty of a rifle and love that it has iron sights!! Have not yet got a chance to shoot it but here are some pics

Eagerly waiting for your review. What does it like, Indian or foreign (pellets) ? From where you got it.

Nice buy....
Congrats....
I found it little difficult to tame....
Well that varies man to man...You can sense the solid punch it delivers.
Do you have other guns too ??

@Master- yep I'm also eagerly waiting to shoot various types of pellets and see what this beauty takes to, hopefully will be able to soon. So far have only managed to shoot 10 'target shot' brand of pellets which had been thrown in free with the rifle. I bought it from M Saleh and co. in Mumbai.
@Basu sir- thanks and no less inspired by you sir[emoji5] I know you are a big SDB fan so it was actually both Rudransh (Veer) and yourself who inspired me to go in for another SDB. It does pack some solid power! However I will need to experiment with some different brands of Indian pellets to see what it likes. G smith pellets are a good match with my precihole rifles, unfortunately they don't fit the artemis. My other guns are:-
Precihole NX100 scorpious and polaris
Precihole SX100 orion and pegasus
IHP 35
SDB 65 (and now artemis)
IHP pistol
Precihole SP50 pistol
Diana pistol model 5 pistol

Unfortunately only 25 feet in the house to shoot them! Rarely do I get to shoot in wooded areas with big space.

Sir did you mean PH brand of flat head pellets?
G smith so far has done quite well with my precis. Along with my artemis I received a free pack of "target shot' brand but they are all fliers so will need to try different brands to see what suits-which pellets would you recommend with the artemis?

Only 25 ft to shoot for such high power guns... ROTFL
Then you will not get real charm from these quickies.
This is the issue with most of us.
I keep Sport stand by for range shooting and use GenNex  mostly.
Yes... Precihole Flat Head 8 gns.
BTW how is about it's look.

Now I'm thinking I should have got a Gennex instead  in the city it is close to impossible to find space to shoot :x :x

I will be going in for precihole pellets- I could see in your video they were a fit for the Sport so should be a good fit for the Artemis too!

Looks wise the Artemis is a real beauty (y) love the wooden stock and iron sights!
Hope to field test all my beauties at the distance they are capable of real soon...

Thank you very much Greenrifle..loved the power of my other SDB which also has reasonable accuracy with marvel shot and marshal shot pellets. I guess the Artemis will be the last addition....now hankering for a PCP once I find more space to shoot.

I am also planning to buy one but confuse between precihole NX and SDB artemis, since you have both which one will you suggest? l mean, i prefer accuracy. Which one is better? I read reviews about precihole quality build in which is good and can even compare with import quality. What about SDB finishing touch?

What little I have managed to shoot with Artemis I find it powerful and accurate but need to shoot more with it to compare. Having shot the NX more I would definitely say it's an excellent and very accurate AR at 10 meters. Finish of the Artemis is good.

Awaiting to know how you find Artemis in comparison with NX100. I am planning to buy an Artemis once I have the comparison.

You may buy any one. Its an addictive hobby and if you are hooked, you will anyhow buy the other one.

Precihole NX100 is CNC machined equipment. Its is an work of precision and no part get out of its place. In NX100 there will not be any spring vibration at all, as there is no spring in it. Its power is around 9.5 FT. Lb.

Compared to NX100, Artemis is a hand machined product. Power is around 12-13 Ft Lb. Recoil is not felt while shooting. I wonder why Indian air gun industry took so long to reach this power level. With this power also it is as accurate as Precihole. Just the problem is too high tolerance of its parts. E.g. Irregular shaped front sight post, rear sight scratches the wooden stock etc. Stock shape is also too strange for my liking.

@sanjip and @niks, I fully agree with master. In all likelihood you will end up buying both as both are a great have different handling, shoot differently and you will pick up one or another on different days. I have been busy and hardly had time to shoot the artemis as much as I would like to. Here are a couple of videos on the artemis which made me go for it. Hope these help to give you some idea of the gun:-
