Bent barrel on ihp. 22

Dear members,

I have an old ihp. 22.

It had a bent barrel once before and I got it repaired from garg Armoury in Delhi

They were kind enough to fix it for me.

They first day of shooting I shot around 100 pellets. It so happened that I corked my rifle and it shot itself. Alas as a result the barrel was bent again

Please suggest if I should get it repaired or I should donate it for parts to other users.

You should look on the auto fire problem first.Check the piston sear and the trigger sear.If trigger sear is the problem, change it.If piston sear is the problem, do the required work on it.After repair the bent barrel.Happy shooting.

If the same barrel has been bent twice, structural integrity of the metal may be lost. It is similar to a metal wire which when twisted and turned several times may break. Should this barrel be used again ? With my limited experience, I would not do that.
Seasoned air gunners in the forum may guide you correctly.

You may get the barrel repaired and may use it as long as it lasts. Accuracy may not be same as before. Anybody repairing the barrel will be doing it externally.
Getting only barrel is difficult and you may get only if somebody is willing to dispose off his old rifle. You may post your requirement in 'Want to Buy' .

Hi Sniper,

I had also searched the nerve but all of them seem to ask for tools and ask to dismantle the air gun. Since I am a novice and I don't have tools, the prospect doesn't seen promising.

BTW does anyone know of gun smith's that's I can contact in Delhi as the ones of gun shops don't have the time to repair air rifles.

Tried to post in wanted but I couldn't post as I might have not met the minimum post requirement.

Here is what i do.
First remove the barrel - Only a screwdriver is required for that.
Find out where exactly the bend is - place the barrel between 2 rods - a window or grill etc - and push in the opposite side gently- that is all it takes -
Continue until it seems straight.
make sure you have some cloth or packing around it to prevent any scratches.
