Beginner planning to buy a air rifle IHP 35/SDB 2000
Hello IFG'ians,
I am a newbie into shooting with some theoretical knowledge on the topic.I am planning to buy a new AR for target shooting at home. I do no plan to go to any ranges/academy. Based on the extensive topics in this forum I have shortlisted IHP 35 and SDB 2000 (0.177). Could the members please help me choose a good AR apart from the above two. My budget is Rs.8000. I am from Bangalore , could any one also please suggest good armory shops that i could check out.
Thanks in advance.
Sandeep

Dear sandeep,
I would recommend neither of these two.
Rather I would recommend SDB Sport in 0.177.
Reasons :
You can use it for 10 mtrs target shooting.
You can convert this into a long range plinking AR.
It is much less than your expected cost.
It likes Mastershot and Gsmith pellets.

Basu Da,
Can you please suggest an indian break barrel springer which can be used for pest control from long range. Moreover, will it be possible to improve its range, muzzle velocity and accuracy by doing some modification to the spring etc. I initially thought of buying a PCP but want to start with a low cost for the time being
Regards,
Mayank

You may consider SDB Sport. Apache or AARMR Hirricane. I uused Apache and Hurricane and PH Nx and PH Sx. in 0.22 cal and they all are good ARs. Choice is yours.

Dear manyak,
I chose SDB Sport over other ARs, mainly Artemis, due to Sport has solid punch and less weight.
My Sport is weighing only 3.00 kgs.
It delivers upto 845 fps with Unitedshot RH 7.5 gns.
As per my shooting experience , this is a solid punch.
Finally , it costs less than all other ARs GNV has mentioned.
It is better to get it from Kolkata dealers.

for lat couple of days i went through many posts of peers like yours and found the forum very helpful to educate myself and learn aspects of air guns. i am going to buy one Artemis and one NX100 now. this will ensure a good match between me and my dad. I have already ordered NX-100 today from www.10kya.com and planning to buy SDB from Kolkata on 11 or 12 July. Will it be possible to suggest a reliable shop from SDB at Kolkata.
thanks a lot for you and all for the kind help.

Sir, I saw your step by step Assembly/Disassembly of Precihole spriger . You are an asset to this forum. thanks for putting your time and efforts to educate all of us. I found very knowledgeable and extensive literature contributed by you Basu Da and many more. I hope one day this forum will paralley have a How To Do channel for Air Rifle/Pistols. I also hope that Indian Air Rifle manufacturers will provide their samples to this forum for beta testing and feedback.GNV wrote:You may consider SDB Sport. Apache or AARMR Hirricane. Thank You Mayank.
There is also a long thread on AARMR Hurricane in which I explained the procedure for Hurricane AR. You may also find it useful.

I'd recommend investing in a Precihole rifle if you can increase your budget a bit...

Thank you Basu Sir! Sorry for my late response as I was not in town. I finally purchased a Precihole SX100 RF plated recently from a local dealer as SDB was out of stock here.Basu wrote:Dear sandeep,
