The fountain pen interest for me seems to be growing and taking me further east these days. I feel the reason I have taken up this hobby keenly is becuase unlike my other interests, fountain pens are tools that I can actually use and enjoy on a daily basis and dont have to wait untill the weekend to take them out.
Heres the first of the two Nakayas that I got. It is their Desk Pen model. The layers of Urushi on these are applied by hand and each layer takes a couple of days to cure hence the total time required for the artist to finish each pen is a couple of months. The finish on this one is called Heki-Tamenuri and it is a shade of brown over olive green. The Urushi finish is glossy and has a distinctive depth to it which I spend a lot of time admiring every time I take the pen out.
The nib unit I opted to get with this is their Elastic Medium which has the hand cut notches in the shoulders to give it a little flex and bounce while writing.
Cheers!

Re: Fountain Pens.
Hello Mack the knife-I found these amongst my late Dad's things. These pens are from the 80's or before so thought it would be an interesting share
1. Mont Blanc set - fountain pen and ball point
2. A gold plated Sheaffer fountain pen
3. Sheaffer set - fountain pen and ball point
4. Another pair but not familiar with the brand - seems like an unknown local brand (PENQUEST)
A google search revealed PENQUEST seems to be an Italian brand. Anyone know more about it?

Hi SMJ,
Those are some interesting pens you found there. Will see if I can help identify some of them.
I have been in a vintage pen collecting phase myself. Sharing some of the pens i got.
1. Waterman Safety pen made somewhere around 1915. This 100 year old pen is quite unique as the nib needs to be moved in and out of the barrel using a twist mechanism at the base of the barrel everytime the pen is uncapped.
2. Pelikan 100 and Pelikan 400. Vintage piston filler Pelikans from around the 1940s and the 1950s respectively. 3. Eversharp Skyline. Lever filler. Not sure of the exact period it is from. 4. No name vintage eye dropper with a flex nib and an over feed. Made sometime around 1905. Cheers!

Hi Kshitij,
Woah! Those are some truly beautiful vintage pens you have there!!
I did a bit of googling on mine and it threw up the following results:-
The Mont Blanc set seems to be from the 1970's
The gold plated Sheaffer seems to be a "Lady Sheaffer" from the 1930's but not sure of the exact model number.
Not yet come across anything on Penquest.
The information is based on the closest matches I could find. It would be great if you could help identify the exact model number and era
