Thank you for the two links Naga. Very interesting threads and it is great that the birth of a good knife is documented. I also got a peek at the price.
Jonah, do I need to send you a pm to order these? I have already indicated my preference for the Mizo Bowie and the Tanto. I would be grateful if you could let me know.
Thanks.....Slingshot

The Mizo Bowie is a great post Jonah. It is not always that the birth of a blade gets documented ....Well done!

Just kidding, bro!
No idea about NE, proper, but my experience of Darjeeling and Sikkim is that, you get Chinese junk in almost every pan shop. Or street vendor. Forget it.
West Bengal Handicrafts Dept stores in Darjeeling (there's one on the Mall, almost at the end) have show khukris. Not very useful to chop wood and stuff. Look like they are made out of leaf springs, just like normal khukris, but the heat treatment seems to have been skimped upon. Edges fold very fast. Too soft.
A better bet is to ask your driver, or similar people. You need to get really friendly with him. You just can't hop into a car and ask the guy to take you to a khukri shop! Most of them can take you to a village smith. I almost got a decent piece "somewhere in SIkkim", but finally didn't buy because I got chicken feet thinking of the train and flight journey back to Mumbai! My loss! This was after the driver had been hauling us around for 4 days.
Cheers!

I think the Commando knife is very nice. Would it be possible to ship it to Hyderabad and what would the cost be in that case?jonahpach wrote:Dont worry about Nagaland.. They only use cardboard swords and spears covered with silver paper thesedays.. Not to mention plastic hornbills! Aizawl is the capital of Mizoram so you did'nt goof up actually.
I dont worry much about PM's.. They come and they go..
I dont make traditional stuff but what do you think of these??
I also have some new stuff comming up..
