Durability of Pellets?

Post by SMJ » Sun Nov 20, 2016 3:16 pm

Hello all,

A quick question- what is the durability of pellets:-

a) When the box/tin is sealed?
b) When the box/tin is open?

I remember Mack the knifes post on cleaning and lubing. But after how long would it be necessary to do so?
Of course I understand that it all depends on storage, climatic conditions etc so the other question is what are the signs to look for to know that the pellets need to be treated?

Just spray some multipurpose lube like Ballistol/Klin Lub after opening the tin. That will take care of the pellets.Alternatively you can also put some Diesel in the tin.

Most of the time you don't need to do anything. If they develop a greyish look then add some 2-T oil on a cloth. Roll the pellets in it. Then you are done.
There is a post about this somewhere, a search might reveal it.

Idea is to put coating on lead pellets after opening tin ( as lead will eventually develops powder on surface due to oxidation )

Optional : Proper inglish n gramer
