Pest control using .177
Many people ask which the best caliber for pest control
So just to conform that perfect head shot you can kill a big size rats with .177 from 25 meters
Sorry for the image quality as the photo has taken from mobile camera
Those rats was killed using my scoped .177 precihole NP air rifle from a distance around 25 to 30 yards

Thanks A & Basu Sir
Killed more than 15 rats in last few days
And specifically in springer air rifle it’s very much true with distance more than 20 meters

Great shot. I too like to use .177. However to be humein, I prefer heavier pellet or pellets that expand like Crosman Premier, H&N Crow Magnum 9.26g, H&N Hornet. I also find Precipel good.
What pellet did you use?

Re: Pest control using .177
i have both .22 & .177 & i find that both are about equal in all aspects at sub 15fpe., save for their trajectories. 1 mm more or less diameter hole in the head doesnot make that much difference , and a shot through the neck breaking the spinal chord kills at the spot regardless of caliber. shot placement is the key.

Nice shots Pratik ji, those shots were taken at night or natural light, coz if its later than i guess those rats have been cocky to meet their end.
for smaller vermins like rats doesnt matter rifle calibre or pellet head type or pellet weight as long its within shooter's comfort zone
