here comes my first nepali khukri-
i found two small knives in the sheath,the booklet along reads that they may be used to sharpen the khukri,i guess pran may guide how to do the sharpening or any nice links.

Nice khukuri you have there Sanjiv.

You can clarify any doubts you may have with Mack The Knife. Guess he strops his on leather using lapping paste as an abrasive.

I've no clue, Sanjiv - it could probably be for the gurkha regiment in the British army.

Are you sure both of them are knives? Only one of them is supposed to have an edge(Karda) the other is meant for honing(chakmak)

btw, did you buy your Khukuri on the internet? What did it cost you?

Hey Sanjiv,
U bought that from Khukuri palace rite? I bought mine from there back in 2002...still going good....BTW do u know wats the name of the khukuri....? Mine was called world war II

One other thing....the two small knives...i was told one is used to sharpen the knife whereas the other is used to clean meat......i may be wrong......

As pran has mentioned....the small knife with the blade is used to clean meat...whereas the blunt edge one is used on the knife...... please do check before u run the knife over the knukuri....

pran you are right ,they are not knives they are karda and chakmak.
no i didnt buy them over the internet,i got they from nepal through a nepali friend who was visiting me last week...

parag,yes it was bought from Khukuri palace,its the nepal army khukuri,one of the simplest and effective.

Hello Guys,
Does any one of our friends own a Cold Steel product? Specially am interested to know about the Cold Steel Sai Man Gurkha Kukri which is retailed for around $ 600. Well if someone is selling this sort of mollah then I hope that the thing must be worth a few things. By the way the demo video on CS's site is pretty intersting and Iwant you guys to check this

I have one obvious query.. How is the certificate matched to the Khukuri... I mean, can any certificate be used for any blade?

my first kukhri.. got is few months back. Personal Kukhri of a 4GR jawan.

12" balde with lots of carving.. need sharpening urgently.. i has a very poor edge and I used it to (please forgive me for this one) break open a coconut. now the edge has a burr on it. do you advice using a rotory sharpening wheel or use a small stick of carborundum? Also now there are slight tinges of rust coming in.

Try to get it sharpened in a mechanized way... I dont know the actual terminology... but that is better in terms of consistency...
.. Any one has more knowledge of sharpening such weapons in Bangalore?
