Re: Airgun import experiences - via personal baggage route
Hello Guys,
I have a planned trip from US to India coming up in the next couple of weeks. Obviously, I'd love to carry an air pistol in my checked in baggage, but the bummer is that I do not currently have any club membership(I know it's stupid, but I did all my air rifle shooting indoors so never needed one ).
What are my chances of being able to bring the gun in my checked-in baggage, without a rifle club membership? Do you think I should go for the gamble?
Would appreciate your responses and opinions!

100% your gun will make it through into the country. Only, it'll end up in some customs officers kids hands.ak27 wrote: I have a planned trip from US to India..... I'd love to carry an air pistol in my checked in baggage.......I do not currently have any club membership.....

Thanks BD and Jatindra.
Boy, that's a bummer! I wonder if I could manage to get a club membership or NRAI membership before I fly from here
I'll be flying back to Hyderabad, by the way.

Re: Airgun import experiences - via personal baggage route
HI, I'm planning a visit to Germany in May. On my past trip in 2015 I had bought back 0.177 air rifle and had showed it to Customs along with the notification for 0.177 and my rifle association member card. He had allowed me, whilst frankly accepting that even he did not really know the rules regarding the same so well.
My question is since 2015 has anything changed with respect to 0.177 cal air rifles ? If all the rules are as before I will try and import one personally in my luggage since Germany has some fantastic shops for the same.
Those in the know, please chip in with your advice regarding latest rules.
Thanks in advance.

Okay, if I get things right, I won't be able to bring back an airgun because I don't belong to a club (I've spent the last 4 years in Russia, where I'm studying).
What about an airsoft gun, would it suffer the same fate?

I got my wiehruch from Berlin in Personal baggage, I had dissembled. Action was removed from the Stock, but kept in single suitcase. I just walked out of delhi airport without any issue.
But i was carrying my DSRA membership card and letter from DSRA stating i am member since when and i had NRAI aspiring shooter letter also, so that if stopped i can show it

no dear joe.. .22lr is a firearm no kids play...
only some fortunate licence holders are allowed to use it and buy it in India. Import is restricted through all channels except for Renowned Shooters and only match weapons

Re: Airgun import experiences - via personal baggage route
Hi, I have a Diana Panther professional long barrel rifle.
I would like to take it with me to Kerala from Dubai.
Either Kochi or Trivandrum.
Could some one guide me on this?
I do not have any membership with any rifle clubs.
Thanks

Re: Airgun import experiences - via personal baggage route
Hi, my wife was carrying a gamo airgun on 04/06/19, as we had asked for ethiad airline clearance , who had further asked the Delhi customs , she was escorted to red channel, the airgun has been detained and we have been asked to get the documents on 10/6/19 to prove our case..she is not member of any shooting club, and I can get a document from DM /SP office clearly stating that no license is required for the same.. any help would be appreciated...thanks
