Thanks! that helped, i tried turning the screw and it turned. I'll see how soft it can go and update you guys.SMJ wrote:In the review of the Artemis by Veer, he points out that the screw, where the portion of the barrel meets the stock near the rear sights, is used to adjust the trigger hardness and softness. This screw is visible in your 4th picture and I think that is what he was referring to. I don't have an Artemis and just going by what I remember seeing in the video. Hope it helps.

I think it's the screw at the back. It's the same with the Canon LG65. Does the G Smith also fall off?

No, G Smith's were much better. They didn't fall off.Big Daddy wrote:Does the G Smith also fall off?

Re: Looking to buy a new 0.177 Air rifle
some rifles have a tolerance of .5 mm. Usually imported rifles do. Heard the same about Precihole too earlier. It's not a fault.
An example is, most German pellets wont easily enter a .22 Indian rifle. I got some from a friend and can only use it in a German springer. I chamfered my SDB to accommodate them.

Dear Vidya,
MSFH yellow box/Gsmith Amateur does well in this gun.
I would not suggest you to adjust trigger pull pressure so early.
Let it go past some 500-600 shots , then tighten the screw clockwise to soften the pull.
If you are inexperienced then better not to try it as it may cause accidental fire.
I have the same trigger in my Sport and it is a charm to shoot.

Re: Looking to buy a new 0.177 Air rifle
Basu Sir, my experience with AR was during my school days (20 + years ago) for a brief period (like 6 months). I broke it's stock due to misfire immediately after loading a pellet (before closing the breach). Then I used only barrel without stock for about 2 or 3 months. Those were fun daysBasu wrote: I would not suggest you to adjust trigger pull pressure so early.

Back to topic, before adjusting the trigger my shots were way off. in the picture below all the shots in 2, 5 and 7 where shot while gradually adjusting the trigger pull. Finally at the softest setting, i was able to pull off some tighter groups (nothing to be proud off but tighter than before)
All shots at 10-11 meter...
Sir, is there any reason, that I shouldn't adjust the softness for first 500 or 600 shots other than accidental fires? If so, I'll revert the softness back to harder setting. Please advise!

Re: Looking to buy a new 0.177 Air rifle
Yes you will find that some pellets will refuse to slide inside the breach. Don't buy those pellets.
I usually use a 6.5mm stereo jack to spread the pellet skirt uniformly so that air does not escape
I can force the wider pellets inside the breach with it also but I found that velocity decreased. So those pellets remain unused.
Added in 5 minutes 31 seconds:
btw, always shoot with scope to understand accuracy of the barrel. If barrel rifling is good, it will shoot consistent. I also used to get groupings like yours until I stopped using open sight.

Re: Looking to buy a new 0.177 Air rifle
Dear Vidya,
Your hold is good enough to control windage.
If you are a right hand shooter , bring your left palm close to trigger or below the trigger guard , where left elbow is getting full support from inside of your waist.
Hope this will improve your performance.
A spring air rifle, spitting pellet near 880 fps with MSFH, is not that easy to control.
You will find this AR will behave damn good once spring beds properly.
It is advised to do any adjustment after 500-600 shots because this is a normal break-in period of the gun.
Once it is broken -in , then necessary adjustments are done.
BTW , what about cocking effort ?

Re: Looking to buy a new 0.177 Air rifle
Just a personal opinion but between SDB and Precihole, I have to say I find the Precihole products to be superior- perfect combination of power with accuracy. I have none of their newer products namely Sport, Apache or Artemis and I am sure they are very good AR's. My basic comparison is based on what I already own. With the new arms act notification when it came to a choice of .177's I decided to get a Pegasus (SX100) and Polaris(NX100) although both are considerably more expensive than SDB products.

Re: Looking to buy a new 0.177 Air rifle
Thanks Basu Sir for the advise! I'll increase the trigger hardness a little until the gun settle down.
Just out of curiosity, I tested the FPS with "mastershot export quality round head pellet" using an app called "Audio Chrono Pro".
It showed an FPS of 1050 FPS (approx) twice and was not showing any results for subsequent attempts (app issue??). Can this be true??
It would have been nicer to test it with proper Chrono meter. Did anybody elase test it with proper chrono meter?

Basu Sir, I'm using the same technique that you mentioned above. I read http://www.riflesilhouette.com/Silhouet ... sture.htmlarticle last week and trying to imitate the same.Basu wrote:Dear Vidya,

But I'm still far from perfect. Need to practice a lot.
Cocking effort seems to be heavy. Not around 6kgs as some one mentioned in some other thread earlier. but i cannot say for sure unless i measure it my some method. How do i measure it? (Should I try a string to spring weiging scale and try to cock it )

Re: Looking to buy a new 0.177 Air rifle
@vidya- you are getting a false reading.
Keep the sound sensitivity adjustment at lowest , then try.
I used to use Samsung Tab2 with headset to get actual reading. The software is good but not all hardware work on it.
I advice you to use MSFH 7.7 gn or P10 8.2 gns or JSB Exact Diabolo 8.44 gn pellets.
Moulindu got good results with these in his SDB23 in .177.
@Gourav-I could not understand as to why you bought imported pellets without understanding suitability of your gun.
I think , even with temporary membership , you can always use your chosen pellets.
I have no clue whatsoever as to how to get national membership.
Basu

Please never try that gamo in indoor ranges of 10meter u can possibly seriously injure someone or yourself due to ricochet. That beast is 26fpe gun and not made for indoor or club practice.buy a smoother gun for indoor target practice.
