Is airgun legal or not in the arms rules 2015

The (draft) Arms Rules 2015 have not yet been notified. For more about those rules and what their impact would be, please see

As per these new rules, if and when they are implemented,

1) Airguns/ air-rifles/ air-pistols of .177 calibre having a muzzle energy in excess of 20 Jouls/ 15 ft lbs would be treated like a firearm (with same penalties for unlicensed possession etc.)

2) ALL Airguns/ air-rifles/ air-pistols of calibre greater than .177 would be treated like a firearm (with same penalties for unlicensed possession etc.)

Could you point out the section which states the caliber (.177) of the rifle? I could not find it.

It is not part of the draft released by them in April/ May 2015, however it is in the Rules which were sent for approval to the Ministry of Law. Those have not yet been released for public scrutiny.
