As far as my limited knowledge is concerned.. .315 is a big bore as far as competition rules are concerned. .22 = smallbore & .30-06 / .315 / 8mm are bigbore and are used in 300m ranges only.

It's highly subjective and arbitrary. If you hunt Africa, it's a small bore. If you are a target shooter, it's a big bore. Depends on where you live, and what you intend to do with it.

Better for what? When asking "is it better" you will have to be specific to what purpose you are planning to put the item. If you like to plink cans, it is not. If you need to kill something and need a more powerful rifle, it is. It's a lot bigger.
Also note, that hunting is prohibited in India.

I know that hunting is not allowed anymore in India.
Added in 3 minutes 42 seconds:
And I meant that can you use the .315 for target practice at 50m range in rifle club in place of the usual .22lr?

aks1296: Then that should have been your question in the first place, and directed to your rifle club. But I would guess no, since a different back stop is required for safety down range.

But the cost of .315 is more than .22lr right?
