Get an IOF .22 LR or .30-06 rifle, both are decent products.

I can only vouch about IOF .22 lr .
I fired this rifle side by side Brno and found it nothing less.
I did not fire 30-06 , so I should not comment about that.

As above, your most suitable options are IOF .22 & 30.06. .22 costs about half that of 30.06.

You may want to factor in the cost of ammo as well - ₹20 vs ₹200. Given 50-rd/yr limit, 30.06 will set u back by 10k annually while .22 would be 1000 bucks! Both guns may need a bit of of love & modding to make them look, feel & behave better.. Set aside a few thousand extra for that.

You may also consider how recoil-shy you are.. .22 can be used even to teach youngsters & ladies at home while same cannot be said of 30.06. If you have a family keen on shooting like myself, you might end up being harassed at home for buying a gun they can't shoot! :D

.315 is another option with great punch but range is less than 30.06, mostly due to poor quality of IOF ammo. Soft nose Springfield rds can do just as much damage as the teen sau pandrah! :)

Thanks for the valuable information you have shared

It was helpful for knowing the cost for these ammo .

Are only these 3 rifle can a civilian can hold .22 lr ,30.06, and .315 with out any restrictions .are there are some more .

And one more thing

Is it possible to buy these guns directly from IOF , instead going through a dealer , will i cut cost .

There are many threads on this forum where you can glean all the info you'll ever need & then some more...

Saw one of your other posts as well. I would say you hold your horses for now & join some club wherever you're at. Then practice for a months.. THEN go for whatever you want. This would allow you to understand the various technicalities of big bore shooting as also help you make up your mind about what you NEED than what you may Want!

30.06 IMHO is a much better round compared to .315 which is accurate at much shorter ranges. Even the standard muzzle energies of 30.06 are higher. Only IOF ammo is available in market mostly for 315 & that's the real shame behind it, else the Enfield on which it is based, is a very good bolt action gun! 30.06 is based on Sauer 202 afaik.

There is a list of 'Permitted Bores' for civilian arms owners. Others such as 9mm, 5.56 are NPB(Non permitted bores). You can find the list online or somewhere here in the forum. While selecting a gun in India, the availability, pricing & quality of ammo is a huge issue in India. That's why 30.06 is the big bore round of choice for many of us here. You should experiment some then decide what you need.

IOF rifles can be bought directly from factories as well as NRAI. Most bandook dealers are unscrupulous, or so I believe. Pls make some shooter friends & preferably have them tag along iff you buy from IOF - choosing a good piece can save you headaches & money later.

As regards your PAG quest elsewhere, not only is it expensive, it also has many issues. There many good SxS & O/U options available at much lesser prices. I would pick one of them if I were you.

Not only that, but the .32-40 is an obsolete cartridge, only occasionally produced by Winchester. No rifles have been chambered for it since before WW2. Not a smart choice.
