Buying new rifle for transfer of residence

I'm hoping he was thinking 10K - 50K rupees, not USD. If USD then I would agree - a nice H&H would likely be the best choice, and fetch a pretty penny if ever sold.

If I were buying for self-defense I would bring back a handgun long before any rifle. And I wouldn't bring back an H&H to do anything other than brag / use as artwork.

I'm afraid that is all it will be as I can think of little practical use for a .375 H&H, especially since you cant hunt with it (in India).
For self defense, if forced to use a long gun, I'd much rather use a significantly smaller caliber than .375 or a shotgun.

I was merely answering his query. He said he wanted an expensive rifle so I am not sure if he meant 50000 rs. Plus he is based in America so surely understands the dollar sign

Absolutely Shooter, I believe that is what he was looking for.

I would also like to suggest that if a handgun is to be purchased for self defense or for carry, don't buy something like a Desert Eagle that is basically a crew served weapon that you need a Bren Gun Carrier to move around. A "Deagle" is not very practical for carry or concealment, unless you are Andre the Giant. There are so many other choices.
