Pran,

You got your self a dam good deal,looks like the prices have dropped 2 for 16 wow

Compare this with Himalayan Imports if I IIRC they charged somewhere between $ 100 to 150 for the Ang Khola.

Did you pick up any out door gear in Thamel,very cheap and some of the best names.

Folks for those of you intrested you can do a roundtrip for 2 for 3 N/4 D around 15 K ex Del includes Air Tics and 5 ****** hotel with casino coupons worth 7 K.

You could also then buy as many Khuks from your winnings at the casino

The outdoor gear at Thamel was great.Lost my wallet in Kathmandu

else would have picked a fishing reel or a decent headlamp . Quite a few places to trek(and fish

) near Kathmandu and Pokhra.Guess I'll make it there again when I have the time and money for it.

Apples and oranges, Inder. They don't even compare well with Ranjith's. However, they are very useable and at the end of the day that's what counts if they are not supposed to be showpieces.

The Ang Khola was crappy in terms of workmanship but the Sirupati has a lovely balance and just the thing for hacking away at brush.

Don't forget that HI looks after its workers unlike most other Nepali manufacturers. Hence, the huge difference in price.

Hmmmmm does Himalayan Imports have some shop or outlet in Nepal so that if somebody visit can pick them up from there.

I think they will only sell direct if Bill Martino's wife requests them to and the sort of people that they are, they will probably do just that.

As Mack The Knife pointed out the Khukuri does have some irregularities.But then it does appear sturdy and only time can tell if it's sturdy as it looks.

The chap who sold me the khukuris gave me some Himalayan epoxy('Lah') too

Waiting to use it to fix the handle on a small knife that I'd been working on.

Inder, I saw Prans Khuks in Bangalore. Very sturdy and a huge change from the touristy trash...absoultely useable and I'm sure will stand up to the field test.
However, I have seen a couple of HI angkholas here in Delhi with a Brit diplomat and chalk and cheese is'nt even the word.The HI are EXQUISITE, fit, finish, the grind, eye to detail...HI has taken the meaning of the word quality very seriously and can easily comapre to any factory made knife in the world. I think their asking price is par for the course.

Is there the slightest possibility of this diplomat getting another? More than the Ang Kholas, I am seriously interested in buying a Sirupati.

Maybe, myself, Pran and Mack The Knife can get together with our khuks and get some pics to show the diff.

As for me, i am yet to see a better khuk than the HI that Mack The Knife has..

And need to pay Rusty some money as well, before he starts charging interest for that!
