@Shan, you can visit shootandslash.com, I personally know the owner. Just make sure that you don't place an order as the site is under construction from what I know.

Guys, if you get a chance, follow the Phillipines airsoft forum. It is an example of the community successfully starting airsoft legally in the country and a thriving community. Airsoft became legal in 2008, with a permit to transport license required to buy airsoft guns, which apparently is as easy as obtaining a driving license in India. Check it out.

During the start of my active efforts to procure airsoft equipment, i used to read the Phil forum. At one point i almost imported parts through a friend there when the customs here became too much to handle. They got some real enthusiasts there, and the Western influence helps it a lot too while coming up with some interesting mods. Their blessing is the lack of this show-pistol craze most of the Indians have, mainly they start from AEGs. Only when that happens here will Airsoft develop as a sport. Can't blame them either as there's no easy way here to bring in anything big. One can always fight for the rights but how many here will stand up for what they think is a toy? These days it's depressing to read on AS, atleast to me.

I agree with Sandy. If paintball can be a hit in india, airsoft has a bigger scope than that. What we need are the resources. I know its difficult, but definitely not impossible.

Sandy, do not be discouraged brother. Airsoft in Phillipines only became popular after companies like G&G and Tokyo Marui started supporting the underground movement which then became full blown and legalized by the government. Airsoft has an immense scope business oppportunity in our country. But first, people like you and me have to change the attitude of people towards this sport.

We can't change the attitude of the people Sobo. We can't even blame them for being fascinated only with handguns instead of AEGs. In a gun deprived country like ours where the chances of owning or even experiencing real guns are close to zero, its natural for them to jump at the opportunity of acquring the closest replica possible. In this case its airsoft.

Sobo, I'm the least bit discouraged but it's definitely taxing. India can be very dangerous for an underground scene but what's fun w/o some risk right. Can't even imagine any brands supporting any Indian effort at the moment though. World was a much saner place when phils had their way. But at present, India is much less hostile to AS compared to Oz so at least that's one up for us. I'm definitely doing my bit to try change attitude of buyers here but when it comes to actual import, all I see are scared faces, eventually ending up with that shiny handgun from a 4x quoting local guy. We should think of making these here, seriously.

Jackie, I'd never say whatever interest I have in AS stems from my inability to acquire a firearm. Its out of pure recreation, the pleasure of milsim; something which can never be had by a civie with a firearm. Well that's just me.

Jackie, you are correct. I know the reality too but I keep pushing it to the back of my thoughts just to feel nice I suppose.
Sandy, good to hear that. If you know what you're doing, the most that would happen is confiscation and a rap on the knuckles, I would hate that too but like you said not much fun without some risk involved in it. Let's remember one thing though is that we are not doing anything illegal, airsoft is in a grey area out of which noone has the time or resources to fight out of. I would completely support manufacture of AS replicas in India. I'm a mechanical engineer by profession (fortunately or unfortunately), if there is a business which wants to look into this, I'm willing to participate. I think I have enough knowledge about aeg's and mfg to atleast get started on making one from scratch.

Added in 6 minutes 22 seconds:
Maybe I'm reaching ahead of myself here, but we dont have to make it all inhouse, just the outer body, gearbox shells, and triggers. Everything else in aeg looks like any other machine part.
