Hello all. I am Sameer. A green card holder from usa.
Possibly my questions have been already been asked by some people earlier.
I am a USA citizen, and would like to buy a gun from Usa and take it along with me to India.
1. I have American Gun Licence so Do i need to have a Gun Licence from india aswell?
2. Do i need to bring the weapon back to Usa when coming back?
Replies to my questions will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: Hello there. New user here Question on TR Importing Gun
Welcome aboard Abdul do post a brief introduction. Especially which guns you intent to take back. Only one gun is allowed and process can be lengthy , check other posts here it has been discussed multiple times. follow the rules to T also remember NPB Non prohibited bores only can be imported. Also, gun has to be owned here in states for around 2 years. I am also confused whether you are Green card holder or US Citizen? Latter might have issues in India procuring license, although folks have argued otherwise.
Good luck

I do not know much about the USA. But like Sameer mentions can't one be both a 'green card holder' and citizen of the USA at the same time.
I was also not aware that there is an 'American gun license', my impression till now was that it was state wise only.
The answers would be a new interesting knowledge for me.

Re: Hello there. New user here Question on TR Importing Gun
Hello guys, sorry for replying a lit late.
When you go to USA first you will get is Immigration Documentation ( which is not eligible to apply for a FOID card {gun licence})
Second stage is Green Card Holder ( which I am. and I was eligible to apply for a Foid Card)
I am not yet a Citizen ( I will be next year)
I am anxious to carry a air rifle to India. so do you guys have an idea weather it requires any sort of licence from india (and the procedure to get it, I mean will I get that licence on spot ? since it is a air rifle?)

Both Navi and Atul are correct. One cannot be a green card holder and a citizen of the USA.
From your mention of the FOID card, one can only surmise that you live in Illinois.
In the free states (L.O.L, we might have a few fights now), no licences or permits are required to posses a firearm. In fact, in 2011, in the case of People v. Holmes, the Illinois Supreme Court ruled that non-Illinois residents who are permitted to possess a firearm in their home state are not required to have an Illinois FOID card when in possession of firearms or ammunition in Illinois. Talk about a slap in the face for Illinois State Legislators.
As far as Air Rifles, they are not firearms and no license is required (in theory). Getting one through customs seems to be a chancy business depending on where you are and who you are dealing with.
